The best bathroom colors for 2019 really vary based on the style of your home and the type of space you have. In general, neutral tones are always a great idea if you don’t know where to start. They are simple and classic, can provide the basis for a ton of different decor schemes, and are versatile enough to attract potential buyers. This beautiful on suite master bath features fantastic neutral bathroom paint colors with an elegant combination of grey and taupe shades. Everything looks crisp and clean, like something straight out of a home design magazine. If you want to be a bit more bold and play around with color, I highly suggest blue shades as a fun option.
So many of my clients have been asking me for my thoughts on the top bathroom colors 2019. Style trends change throughout the years, and that is certainly the case with wall paint and color palettes. However, I do not think there has been a huge shift in popular styles as the hottest colors for 2019 remain primarily neutral palettes that we have seen in years past. The best paint for bathrooms is still the lovely cool grey tones like in this pretty bathroom, or other similar neutral shades like beige or taupe. I think that the reason these colors continue to be so popular, is due to their style versatility and ability to take on so many decor schemes.
I have been on the hunt for simple yet elegant bathroom color schemes to revamp our large master bathroom, and this home is by far my favorite so far! Grey tones have always caught my eye, but in today’s popular designs they are generally paired with a lot of white to create a bright and airy look. That looks nice in magazine photos and on television, but for my home I would prefer something a bit darker and richer. I like how this designer created a monochromatic grey color palette on the walls, ceilings, bathroom vanities and tiling with a variety of hues that are actually quite dark.
It seems like so many people are intimidated by the thought of revamping their bathroom designs, and I am not quite sure why. Sure decorating these spaces involves making a lot more design decisions than, let’s say, a bedroom because of all the elements required in the space. However, I view it as a fun challange and an area to utilize my creativity. These are photos of our master makeover where I tore everything out from bathroom cabinets to tile and started fresh. Obviously this wasn’t a cheap project, but it was one that our home desperately needed. I love funky slightly retro decor, but I knew I had to keep our bathroom somewhat neutral and mainstream so as not to deter future buyers whenever we decide to sell.
Selecting the perfect bathroom accessories is the key to creating a cohesive and complete looking design. It is also an area that you can play around with colors and textures to add aspects of your own personality to your home. Little touches like art work, towels, sculptures, rugs etc. can really finish a design and give it that professional touch. Of course, when accessorizing your space it is very important to keep your bathroom decor cohesive and with purpose. Throwing in random trinkets and artwork that suits your fancy isn’t going to give you that professional look, you need to select pieces that are keeping with the overall style and color palette of the room.
Bathroom paint can have a huge impact on the overall design and cohesiveness of a room. Picking the right colors can be challenging because, not only do you have to pick a color out of hundreds of options, but you must ensure that the undertone of that color shade matches existing elements in the space. If not, a room will just look “off” and not well decorated. This room is the perfect example of what can happen if you select bathroom color ideas without taking into account the undertones of your paint swatch, tile, cabinetry and countertops. As you can see, the marble tile and countertops have a lovely cool grey coloring and a very subtle pattern that brings a traditional elegance to the room.
