I wanted to share my latest guest bedroom update in case anybody on here is searching for bedroom colour ideas for their own home. Some might consider aqua blue and grey to be a slightly unconventional color palette, but I thought it would be a great choice for this sweet bedroom that has a balcony overlooking our lake. I wanted the space to be a nice tranquil retreat and I have always thought that shades of blue are particularly relaxing. I picked an aqua shade that was listed in the Benjamin Moore top paint colors 2019 catalog at my local Ace Hardware because I figured one of those would turn out to be a good one.
Bedroom paint colors are oftentimes such a personal decision because they set the tone for your personal hiding spot away from everybody else in the household (or perhaps you are lucky and live alone). Any time I have been faced with the task of choosing shades in the past, I have always found myself struggling because everything looks so perfect on the tiny swatch, but oh so different when you actually paint the walls. After many many ill fated painting incidents over the past 20 years, I have finally figured out the secret to selecting the right shades. The first thing I do is check out what is popular for the current year.
This gorgeous suite was actually our accommodations for our recent honey moon to Hawaii. I loved the master bedroom colors so much that I want to recreate this same look in our own home. The warm neutral tones on the walls are such a calming backdrop to the space, and the pops of aqua bring color but still are in keeping with the serene vibe that the designer was going for. Perhaps my favorite bedroom decoration that they used was the beautiful white washed beam design featured on the ceiling. We have a trey ceiling in our master bedroom at home, and I think that we could create a similar version of this look (my husband could probably even do it himself).
If you are anything like me, before you embark on a home decor project you spend tons of time agonizing over the right bedroom designs for the space or the perfect paint palette to accompany the new bed linens you bought. I have found websites like this to be so helpful throughout this process because they give you so many great examples of beautiful finished rooms that you can use to base your designs off of or inspire completely new plans. I actually was inspired to revamp my master bedroom based on these photos. The last time I went to lowes, I had been glancing through the latest magazines for Behr paint colors 2019 and saw this dusty green shade that I loved.
I was so excited to tackle this client's bedroom redesign because they have always been enthusiastic and willing to experiment with eclectic styles and wall paint colors. I knew that this bedroom would be no different because they wanted to make a very modern space that reflected both of their edgy personality. Based on this description, you probably thought that they would want to use bold bold bedroom color schemes like a black, red wine, or navy, but we actually decided to keep those shades a bit more simple and neutral and let the decor really shine. We did opt to do a fun accent wall in silver metallic wallpaper that jazzes up the space, but everything else was done in an elegant taupe shade.
If you are researching the best bedroom colors to use in a new home decor project, I would highly suggest taking a look at the color stories at your local paint store. This is how I came up with these great shades that I used in our new master bedroom redesign. I know it may look like a simple beige color, but you would not believe how challenging it was to pick this particular shade out of the hundreds of similar neutral tones they had to choose from. I actually settled on this particular color after glancing through a catalog of wall painting ideas next to the display shelf. I assume that the shades that are found in those booklets are among the most popular, so I went with my gut, purchased a few gallons and went home to paint.
