I know that most people say that the best gray paint colors Sherwin Williams creates are the softer more subtle shades like agreeable gray and wordy gray, I have always gravitated more towards the deep charcoal shades. Since I know that a lot of people are nervous to commit to one of the decidedly bolder grey paint colors, I thought I would post a photo of our recently remodeled living room to hopefully put your mind at ease. As you can see, despite the extremely rich dark tone of the walls, the room still feels quite warm and welcoming. A lot of people told me that the were nervous that I was going to create some sort of cave-like space, but the pops of color I have incorporated throughout certainly prevent that from happening.
For years everybody has been saying that the best gray paint colors sherwin Williams has to offer are their dove gray family. I mean I like a nice soft wall color as much as the next guy, but I think that they are definitely the safer (aka boring) route. I love a great dark grey paint like this dusty lead shade because it gives so much more depth and dimension to a room. My husband thought that it would be way too dark based on the tiny swatch, but I assured him that if we paired it with a ton of bright white accents that it would definitely not be overwhelming. As you can see from the pictures of our living room, even though we chose one of the lesser used sherwin williams paint colors, the room still looks very trendy and elegant.
I would love to get a poll of what you all think are the best gray paint colors Sherwin Williams has to offer for 2020 and beyond. I feel like I have gone through hundreds and hundreds (okay maybe like 50) of popular paint colors trying to find that oh so perfect shade for my new home office, but I have yet to pinpoint that "it" shade that I want to commit to. These photos are what I am calling my "inspiration design" so I am trying to mimic the overall color palette that they used as well as the decor. At first I thought that the walls were a very light grey paint, but when I try to color match it at the store, I am realizing that it is a much deeper charcoal shade.
My friend and I have been having a debate on the best gray paint colors sherwin Williams offers right now for at least the past two weeks if not longer. She is definitely a big proponent of the trendier more "Pinterest worthy" Sherwin williams colors 2020 like Analytical Gray but I I think that the best gray paint colors are either Dorian Gray (pictured here) or Constellation gray. I prefer my paint colors to have a warm undertone but I suppose that would be a personal preference that not everybody agrees with. Now that I think about it, my friend Hannah has mostly cool undertones throughout her home so it makes sense that she would prefer a more neutral shade like Analytical Gray.
If I had to put my finger on the best gray paint colors Sherwin Williams is offering for 2020, I would have to say this Anew Gray shade the we painted the entire guest suite in our home. I did a lot of research on the best neutral paint colors before we redecorated this space, and so many people kept brining up this particular shade. After using it in our house I can definitely see why. It is definitely a warmer toned color, but not so much so that you cannot pair it will cooler accents. Furthermore, it is a much darker and richer shade than most popular Sherwin williams gray paint, but I don't find it to be too overwhelming in our relatively average sized suite.
If I had to choose the best gray paint colors sherwin Williams is offering for 2020, I would have to narrow my choices to two. When I am giving friends, family, or clients advice on potential gray paint colors for their home, I like to offer both a light and a dark option. They could mix and match them like we did in this modern style living room, or they can choose one and carry it throughout the whole room. To date, my current favorite sherwin williams paint colors 2020 are definitely Eider White and Dorian Gray (both pictured here actually). The white shade is a fantastic neutral with just a hint of a cool grey undertone to make it interesting.
