My landscape architect and I have been swapping different front yard designs back and forth in hopes of coming up with something that will elevate our fairly small property in time to sell the place. We are looking for fairly inexpensive front yard ideas that will look good against a home with modern architecture, and that will be pretty easy to maintain over the next few months as our home is on the market. Above all I want whatever we plant up front to really make the home feel welcoming and give it fantastic curb appeal. The first impression that our house makes will be a lasting one, so it is imperative that we wow potential buyers from the get go. This is probably my favorite out of all of the landscape design pictures I have looked at because there is so much greenery incorporated but still with the clean geometric lines of the modern style home.
Front yard designs like this make me so happy -- I wish this were my house because I would feel like I were living in some sort of English manor (my dream). It's hard to believe that they really just used pretty simple landscaping ideas to achieve this high end look. The real star of the show is the ornate architecture and quality materials (check out the that natural stone), the actual green elements are quite basic. A lush lawn and well placed shrubbery are pretty much the extent of the ground-based elements of the landscape design. I do love the ivy covered trellis work installed over the large first floor windows. Those pieces, especially, give off that dreamy fairy tale castle vibe.
Lush front yard designs like this are my favorite because they make your home seem very tucked away and private. Although we live in a pretty densely populated neighborhood, I want our house to feel like we are along and shielded from everybody else around us. For me, this is where front yard landscaping ideas come in because I can create privacy with large shrubs, tall trees, or even very dense flower beds. The more green the better because it makes everything look fresh and bright, not to mention the colors make our white brick house really pop behind it all. This yard design is pretty much my ideal look and the exact space that I try to achieve when I am planning out my front garden.
I know that the front yard designs that they used for this house are very simple, but I really like how minimalistic and straightforward the look is. In my opinion, simple landscape ideas for front of house are always best (especially if you have gorgeous architecture like they do), because they do not distract from the look of your house and they take minimal time to maintain. When life gets busy, let's be honest, the time you dedicate to landscaping and gardening is the first to go. A lot of your more trendy landscaping ideas 2022 like topiaries, deep flower beds, and sculpted trees, do take a lot of effort and/or money to maintain their appearance, which is just something I do not want to commit to.
I am pretty traditional when it comes to front yard designs, and am generally happy with nothing more than a well manicured lawn and some nice bushes and trees surrounding the foundation of the home. I snapped this photo of a house down the street from us because I think that it provides such a great example of the minimalist front garden ideas that I am talking about. Nowadays I feel that people try to go way too extreme and over the top simply to stand out from the homes around them. While I do see the value in that to a certain respect, sometimes huge brightly colored flowers, rock gardens, or intricate pathways can be overwhelming. Give me a lush green lawn and some fast growing trees and I will be absolutely thrilled with how it looks.
