This gray tile bathroom renovation project was one of my favorite DIY undertakings yet. I wish I had the foresight to take a before photo but, since I did not, just know that it was not filled with delightful grey bathroom ideas, but rather a very "retro" space except not in that hip and cool way that people are actually into now. Think mustard yellow tiles and matching toilet, rusty pedestal sink, the whole nine yards of yuck. As soon as we moved in, we went ahead and gutted the place. We knew that there was nothing in there that we wanted to keep. Once the room was down to the studs, we installed duraroc and then got busy with the grey and white bathroom tile ideas that I had been collecting for months. We wanted the space to have a balance between fresh contemporary trends and a quaint rustic vibe.
This designer took the concept of a gray tile bathroom to the next level, with this floor to ceiling granite tiled wall. Admittedly, I don't think I would ever even think to cover my walls in grey bathroom tiles, but it actually works really well in this design. I like how it almost gives the look of wallpaper, but in a way that is unexpected and obviously much easier to clean and maintain in a humid environment. Not only is the durability and maintenance factor a great plus, but it also makes the space feel much more luxurious than if that had gone with your standard wall coverings. By making the wall the focal point rather than the tub surround, vanity area, or shower, you turn the concept of a gray bathroom around and make this one rather special.
I am loving the mosaic theme in this gray tile bathroom that is filled with light and funky contemporary design. With this color palette being so trendy this year (and showing no sign of stopping), I am always on the lookout for grey bathrooms decorating ideas that bring something different to the table than your typical white cabinets and marble tile designs that we see everywhere. This space is both modern and playful -- a delightful combination that you certainly don't see often enough. Plus, believe it or not, using mosaic pieces like they did is actually one of the less expensive bathroom wall tile ideas, because those materials tend to run a lot cheaper than your larger granite or marble slab tiles. Therefore, not only is it beautiful and eye catching, but it is also friendly on the budget as well.
This is such a cute gray tile bathroom -- my favorite part is the glittering mosaic behind the freestanding tub! I would absolutely love a space like this in my home and would definitely mimic the vanity, tub, countertops and flooring. The only thing that I don't love is the blah white color of the walls. I am not exactly sure what color to paint a bathroom with gray tile, but I would definitely want there to be a richer and more vibrant shade than this. In my opinion, more color is always better, but I feel that you just don't see that enough nowadays. The vast majority of bathroom tiles images that I have seen online feature a monochromatic color palette with neutrals being the primary shade range.
These pictures were the single thing that first inspired me to choose a gray tile bathroom for our new master. Once I initially found this inspiration, I started searching far and wide on the vast trenches of the internet for gray bathroom ideas that would help me to perfect my look before we started on the project. Believe it or not, this really bold granite was the item that attracted me to the space. Normally I don't go for something quite so eye catching, but I actually think that it really makes the space. I wanted to find more pictures of bathrooms with gray tile to make sure that other people would find it attractive too, and was actually able to find quite a few. That means that it is game on for the master bathroom remodel now.
When most people picture a gray tile bathroom in their head, they envision a marble covered space accented in white (at least my clients do). My biggest mission right now is to help homeowners think outside of the box, and experiment with other unique gray bathroom tile ideas that make their home stand out from the rest of the cookie cutter spaces. For the master suite, we opted for large stone tiles in a beigey gray color that matched the accent wall paper that was our inspiration piece for the entire space. Rather than going with a white vanity, we chose this dark floating unit that popped against the softer grey bathroom floor tiles. Although it was a bit of an unconventional choice, we loved how it brought out the dark trim around the window.
