Elegant French country decor is one of my absolute favorite design styles because it combines traditional details with homey touches that warm up the home and give it that lovely "lived in" feel. Although I want my interior to look high end and complete, I still want people to feel like they can enjoy spending time in the room rather than treating it like a museum where nothing can be touched. Upscale country home decor has always been the solution for me, because I can add those classic details like rich would panelling, plush sofas, and fancy fixtures, alongside more rustic elements like antique furniture, cozy textiles and whimsical decorative artwork and accessories.

This is our new living room that I recently redecorated in this style. As you can see, there is a nice balance between upscale pieces and more casual touches. The inspiration for my home decor ideas was actually designs I saw in Southern Living Magazine, that I modified slightly to be more cohesive with our home's architecture and current color palette.

I just moved into a large downtown condo and have been speaking with designers about room decor ideas to finish off the space. Right now it is quite plain (all white with tile flooring) but does have a ton of natural light from a ton of windows and is pretty modern in design. I think that it is a good base to work with, so I am wondering if I should just do the decor myself. I am particularly inspired by living room ideas like this, that feature a pretty simple color palette but a lot of style brought in through textile accents, artwork and natural touches such as stone, wood, and metal. My living room actually has a similar fireplace flanked with inset cabinetry, so I think I could achieve a similar look by adding a mosaic tile to the back and having the trim and cabinets refinished. My first item to purchase would be a nice neutral sectional like the one featured in this room and a variety of accents that mimic the home decor ideas in this photo. Luckily, I already have a pretty extensive art collection from my travels, so I will base the color palette from the hues featured in my favorite pieces.

Rustic interior design ideas are actually quite hard to come by these days. So many popular designs feature the same mixture of white and grey monochromatic color palettes, dark plank flooring, chrome fixtures and marble accents that it can be hard to find inspiration for spaces that fit outside of those realms. That is why I absolutely love this living room decor, because it shows an awesome look that is a bit outside of the box and certainly different than the photos I have seen online lately. My favorite part of the entire design is the use of rustic barn wood throughout the space. The designer incorporated it as exposed beams on the vaulted ceiling (something that I think wonderfully accents the height of the room) as well as the custom entertainment center and coordinating antique-style coffee table. This creates a charming cabin look without being too cliche. The warm beige color palette is another great choice in the room because it warms up the space and provides a nice contrast against the harsh wood. This is definitely going to be my main source of home decor ideas for the high end country style look I am trying to create in our new home.

I love bedroom decor ideas that create a very zen and tranquil space that serves as a hideaway from the stresses of the day. This gorgeous Moroccan inspired master is a great example of a space that is both functional and beautiful at the same time, and that incorporates just enough bold design touches to be interesting without overwhelming the space. I think that the key to the design is simple room decor and a monochromatic color palette that primarily sticks to neutral tones, with only dark browns and blacks as accent shades. To me, simple color schemes always create the most relaxing look and are especially appropriate for a master suite. Just because the palette is simple, doesn't mean the the overall design is boring, however. The use of the rustic exposed beams, brass chandelier and bold modern art create a ton of visual interest and just enough style to make the room look elegant and well put together. The mixture of contemporary home decor ideas with traditional elements and antique pieces creates a wonderful design dichotomy.

My partner and I just finished up this master bath remodel for a client that requested a space that exudes "old world elegance." I think that the home interior design techniques we used would be inspiring for others who are trying to create a similar look, so we wanted to share some photos. The original space was pretty basic -- we kept the original footprint but gutted pretty much everything else. The inspiration behind the bathroom decor ideas we used was actually the lovely white and salmon marble pattern on the floor. We spotted this at a local specialty tile shop and thought that it perfectly personified that old world look our client's were looking for. With this piece of the puzzle decided on, the rest of the design just flowed. We added the classic columns flanking the jacuzzi job to give the space a more regal feel and installed a large double vanity in a similar shade to accent them. For the smaller home decor ideas like light fixtures, rugs, and other accents we went shopping at local antique shops and world markets to find eclectic pieces.

Selecting the right wall decor ideas are an extremely important part of finishing a design, especially one that relies on clean lines and a monochromatic color palette like this modern style home. With relatively little visual interest generated by paint colors and furniture style, that wow factor is left to the artwork and decorative accents designers choose to bring in. Take this stunning contemporary home for example -- the interior decorator opted for an all white and grey theme for the paint colors, furniture and flooring, but brought in bright pops of color through the beautiful home wall decor. I love how the gorgeous aqua and green shades bring out the lovely natural shades of the palm trees and lake showcased through the large picture windows on the backside of the room. This technique creates a simple yet elegant style that makes the impressive views the star. Even if you don't have a property like this one, you can still use this technique throughout your home decor ideas by simply choosing one or two pieces to provide color and pattern and keep the rest quite simple.
