I love incorporating kitchen tiles in my home designs. They are such a versitile and durable material that you can really make them work with almost any decor style from contemporary to very traditional. Of course, the most common area to utilize tile is in kitchen flooring. Whether you choose lovely travertine stones like this home, bold slate options or classic faux marble, it is a great way to finish the floor quickly and with style. I always suggest selecting larger pieces of tile for the kitchen because of the high surface area you are covering. If you like the look of smaller more intricate work, you can add border detailing or small pieces here and there. Another space to bring in those detailed touches is through backsplash tile.
Previously we had laminate wood floors in the room (and throughout the rest of the downstairs). They were pretty, but not very durable. They got stratched from our dogs over the years and there was some moisture damage from spills and things. We decided to replace it with these gorgeous slate floor tiles. Not only are they incredibly durable and long lasting, but they actually coordinate with the stone that you can find outside of our home. I love that it creates a very “one with the earth” look, like we brought the rocks in from outside. I would highly recommend these kitchen floor tiles for anybody looking to achieve a similar look. I wanted to share our recently completed kitchen remodel.
Clients often ask us what is the best flooring for kitchen areas. That is a loaded question because each person’s home is different in terms of how much traffic comes in and out of the room, how often you use the space, if you have pets etc. Purely thinking about durability, I always recommend a ceramic tile kitchen floor. Some people say that ceramic can be fragile or prone to breakage but, with advances in production, it is really not the case anymore. Not only is it durable, but it is an extemtly versitile product that is available in a ton of finishes, designs and color palettes. For kitchen flooring, I suggest a darker neutral tone to hide dirt a debris.
I always think that wood floors in kitchen is a great design concept. Not only are they beautiful and classic, but they are actually quite durable as well (unless you go with the laminate variety). This beautifully rustic kitchen is a great example of how to use wood decor in the best way possible. The designer brought in the material through the kitchen flooring, cabinetry, doors, trim, and even lovely exposed beams. Yes, it is a bold design statement, but I feel that it is one that totally works with the style of the home and architectural features throughout. Of course you can bring a similar feel to your home without commiting fully to the all wood look. Start your design with kitchen flooring ideas that incorporate wood.
We designed and remodeled this kitchen for a client who wanted a new kitchen backsplash tile to make the room more pristine and polished. We client preferred white cabinets with ornate decorative handles on cabinet doors and drawers. The beautiful granite countertops add a stylish touch to the room. The square island draws your eye to the center of the room and has the matching granite top. The island is ideal for coffee breaks, everyday family meals or entertaining guests. The granite also pairs well with the neutral shade of the kitchen backsplash tile. The piece d’ resistance which brings this entire room together is the lovely ceramic floor tile.
Would you believe that this gorgeous dark plank floor is actually laminate wood flooring? Companies are making huge strides in developing both durable and highly decorative imitation products at a fraction of the cost of real wood. The kitchen flooring in this home is a great example of this. The homeowner wanted plantation style plank flooring in a really dark and rich tone to contrast with the beautiful white cabinets they were installing. Unfortunately the price of real wood did not fit in their budget so we started looking at kitchen laminate flooring options. We found this fantastic product that is half the cost of their inspiration piece and just as beautiful.
