Landscape design pictures like this inspire me to by more land one day, preferably on a lovely body of water like this. I mean check out that beautiful dock and gazebo that you could easily fish or go kayaking off of at any time of day. That seems like such a luxury for the outdoors lover in me! Beyond those fun features, I also just really like their backyard landscaping ideas. They have a very spacious property that has room for a ton of smaller areas for entertaining. First and foremost, I am in love with their outdoor kitchen because I spend just about every summer evening grilling. Their spacious double porches are another standout of these garden design pictures because it looks like a fabulous place to lounge for coffee in the morning.

My friends have been asking why I am always looking at landscape design pictures because they don't understand that it is such a good way to find ideas and inspiration for your own house (even if you don't own a sprawling estate like this one). I never realized how many architectural styles, building materials, color schemes etc there were until we started planning out our own home build from the ground up. You need to figure everything out from from what siding you want to the garden ideas you will put in front of it, so that there are no surprises (and extra budget items in the end). I find that going through these pictures is so helpful because it helps me narrow down items and styles that I like and do not like, whether is be in landscape design or even the peak of a roofline (I love the roof on this house by the way).

These landscape design pictures are so elegant and provincial -- they look like something straight out of the villas my husband and I explored around France last fall. We were so inspired by our travels, that we wanted to try to recreate some of that ambience in our own patio landscaping designs at home. I would love to recreate a few different elements of this property in order to set the foundation for the patio area. First and foremost, we want to add the rounded brick and slate patio as the centerpiece for the space. Rather than the wildly growing landscaping shrubs that they used here, I would plant boxwood hedges that we would keep well manicured, as well as brightly colored blooms for some pops of color against the brick and green backdrop.

I am posting these landscape design pictures not as inspiration for others, but rather in hopes that some kind posters on here could help me figure out what to do with our very empty looking property. I have already followed a lot of the suggestions to start researching pictures of landscaping ideas to get inspired and figure out which overall style aligns with our architecture and design preferences. I am afraid that I am too square and certainly not creative enough to figure out how I could possibly translate the gorgeous designs that am I seeing in all of these photos in to our own bare yard. As you can see we already added a lot of landscape edging that matches the light brick exterior and, although it did improve the flow, I still feel like the yard looks quite empty.

My biggest tip for any homeowner preparing to tackle a backyard remodel project on there own is to look through galleries of landscape design pictures first in order to get an idea of what can be done in your space as well as different styles and plants that you like. Oftentimes the post will include information about what types of plants or building materials were used for the project because designers want others to use images from their portfolios as inspiration for backyard ideas. This is probably my favorite landscaping project that we have taken on lately because of the sheer size of the yard as well as the lushness and layering we were able to achieve. We were originally hired to come up with some pool landscape designs but we ended up making over the entire backyard and porch area.

I love the quaint cottage look in these landscape design pictures because it looks like a fairy tale cabin come alive in real life. I found this gorgeous home while I was looking for landscaping ideas 2019 that I could use to update our front yard gardens to be more welcoming. We aren't planning on selling our house or anything like that, but I feel like we are doing our yard a disservice by not spending some time (and money) amping it up a bit with new plants and smaller decorative accents. Besides how charming the property in these landscape design photos is, I really love the simple cobble stone path the created to the front door. Accenting it with bright magenta flowers and simply shrubbery seems like a relatively easy and inexpensive way to update our yard in just a weekend.
