This modern staircase certainly seems more like a piece of artwork than it does an actual structural component of the home. The sign of a truly genius architect is the ability to take something as seemingly mundane as a simple modern staircase design and turn it into something truly fantastic. My favorite part of the entire design is the unique metal branching that almost looks like dipped twigs making their way up the entire banister. It is reflective of the mountains outside the windows and really evokes an earthy yet contemporary look. The simple modern living room ideas that they chose to decorate the rest of the area were the perfect choice because they did not distract from the beauty of the staircase, but rather highlighted it.
A modern staircase like this can certainly become the focal point of a home because it is a show stopping item that, quite simply, provides balance to everything else. Beautiful staircases like this are one of the first things that I look at when I enter a home, mostly because I know the creativity and planning that goes into creating them. My father was an architect and my husband is a contractor, so I can certainly appreciate the nuanced details and skill that it requires to create a design like this gorgeous floating glass staircase. Stair railing ideas like this certainly look effortless and chic, but actually designing and constructing them is anything but easy. If I ever do a modern home, I would definitely want something just like this.
This is probably my favorite modern staircase in the gallery, mostly because it seems like an engineering marvel to make it float like that while still being safe. I do have to admit that I would probably never let my kids walk on a staircase design like that, but it sure is fun to look at and dream about. I love the retro meets maritime vibe that is going on between the thin iron railing and spindles combined with the wooden floating treads and no riser. It cannot have been easy to plan or build, and I am sure they required much more than the free home design software that I downloaded for our last renovation project. Even so, it is certainly fun to look at homes like this and see how other people live.
I am usually not into contemporary design at all, but something about the wood and metal modern staircase definitely has me intrigued. I tend to gravitate towards the warmth and elegance that traditional style decor brings to a home, because I feel that modern interior design can have a tendency to look cold and aloof. I enjoy plush sofas, engaging artwork, and soft colors. That is not to say that I can have an open mind about what types of things to do in a future home. Quite frankly, I would be very interested in modern house plans if it meant that I could have a grand staircase like this in my entryway. I could handle the contemporary decor (which is actually really nicely done here) if there was just a little bit more color to bring some personality in the space.
This modern staircase has totally inspired the future decor palette of my entire house (other than just the entryway). We are building from the ground up so I have the ability to put in just about anything we want. My husband and I long ago decided that we wanted a modern home design for this property, and I think that this staircase is the perfect way to start. It looks like this place is a townhouse so it is narrower than what we will be working with. Regardless, I still want to use the same metal grid spindles, gorgeous oiled wood railings and matching floating treads with no risers. We would probably translate these modern staircase ideas into some sort of grand entryway so that the most people possible will be able to catch a glimpse.
I don't think that I have ever come across a modern staircase that I do not love -- mostly because they all look like a work of art to me. Take this one for example, the chic glass and metal structural components are a perfect accent to their modern house design and actually becomes a decor element in itself. I really enjoy how the ultra industrial looking metal softens when it is paired with the warmth of the wood planking that is used for the flooring. This combination is very striking and I think will serve as inspiration for the staircase ideas in our new home. In fact, we may even do those same floors as well to really mimic the look. I will certainly post photos of our house once we finish up.
