If you are looking into pools for small yards, it is important to up the "decor" factor to compensate for the lack of size. For example, this homeowner added an even smaller than usual feature to their back patio (it looks like it is only about 100 square feet, but the luxurious design factor is off the charts. They have added just about every feature that small pool designs have to offer, from fountains to lighting and even a decorative stone backdrop. Doing so distracts you from the small size and makes it a highly decorative component of the property. Plus, beyond being extremely visually appealing, I imagine that this is an absolute joy to relax in in the evenings while watching the sun set. All in all, I would definitely keep these things in mind if you are even remotely considering small backyard pool ideas as a way to upgrade the value of your home.
Pools for small yards are actually some of my favorite projects to take on because there is so much that you can do to make them an awesome artistic piece. Nowadays there are actually a ton of fairly affordable ways to take your pool designs to the next level -- these include LED lighting (like we installed in this home), fountain and waterfall elements, and even gas or wood fire features. A small pool is so much easier and less expensive to install and maintain, but they still give you the ability to enjoy the benefits of a having a large personal water feature. If you are considering one, I highly encourage you to go for it. Be sure to look at some of our backyard pool ideas 2022 in the gallery we posted here, and give us a call if you have any questions!
Quite frankly I never thought that pools for small yards were a thing -- I just assumed that if you didn't have a lot of property, you could not have a pool. Period. Given that land is hard to come by in our area, I have always been kind of bummed because I never thought that a swimming pool design would really be possible even though I had always dreamed of having such a luxurious feature in our backyard. Randomly I came across an article on here all about pools that were specifically created to accommodate smaller yards. Much to my surprise, these small pool ideas were actually really lovely (almost prettier to look at than full size designs) and seem more than large enough to both exercise and entertain in. Let's just say my pool dream may become a reality now!
Pools for small yards do not have to be less luxurious or less decorative than their larger counterparts. In fact, I have a blast planning out these designs because there is so much more you can do from a decor perspective since they are almost a cross between a pond and an actual pool. Small inground pools like this one can have awesome fountain or waterfall elements to give it a very special garden vibe, or you can add modern lighting effects and even a fire element to give it more of a glamorous contemporary vibe. The sky is really the limit here, and I encourage you to think outside of the box as you begin the design process. This can be so much more than just a small lap pool if you keep your mind open and plan carefully.
Anybody who has spent any time designing pools for small yards knows that, even though you may be limited on space, it does not and should not mean that you skimp on design. In fact, anytime that I am working on pool designs for small yards, I actually spend more time than I ordinarily would planning out the decorative elements because I know that you can get away with more when the square footage is less. I know that this seems counter intuitive but, in general, the larger the pool the more overwhelming it can be on the entire look of the property. For that reason you want to keep everything pretty simple so as not to overwhelm the property. However, if you are doing something fairly small like this home, adding in those extra features like fountains and a decorative brick retaining wall, do increase the inground pool cost but it is well worth it for the visual effect that you achieve.
I can't even imagine being lucky enough to call this property my own. I saw so many luxurious homes when I began looking for photos of pools for small yards but this one is definitely the winner because of the sheer beauty of the landscaping and the view. I mean, I really like their inground pool designs as well, but it is just a mere enhancement to the natural beauty that surrounds it. With that being said, I think that is an important point to make. A pool should enhance the look of your property and never distract from the natural element of your landscaping. From what I can tell, all of the high end designs on here feature pools of all sizes that seem to be nestled in to a garden or backyard retreat. The landscaping and hardscaping elements make even small pools look effortless and a natural transition from the greenery that surrounds it.
