Bedroom Ideas
I wanted to show off some of the photos of the wine cellar that we just finished up in the weird unused attic area upstairs off of our bonus room. Before I came up with this cool curved wine cellar design for the space, it used to just be a slopped ten by twelve foot area that could not really be used for anything else. We considered a closet but the ceiling was too sloped for hang up clothes, and it wasn't quote big enough for a bathroom.

After I saw some wine cellar ideas pictures for unconventional areas, I knew that this would be such a perfect project for the space. I sketched up a design (I am an architect by day) for our contractors and they were actually able to pull it off even better than I ever could have imagined.

A wine cellar is one of those little luxuries that I have absolutely always wanted to have in our house. I have been saving gorgeous wine cellar ideas like this for years now hoping that one day I would have the space (and funds) to install it. Well my friends, the day has finally come! The house we just bought has an unused corner in the basement that would be absolutely perfect for something like this, especially since the area down there is essentially a game room/man cave complete with full bar and projection television. I think it would be so cool to have a glass door that leads to a gorgeous wood and stone home wine cellar like this with rows and rows of shelves filled with bottles. Nothing huge, just a simple narrow design like in these pictures.

I am so proud of the wine cellar that my husband designed and made, because it is so unique yet still very functional at the same time. We were first inspired to create a diy wine rack like this after going to a friend's new house that actually has a full size cellar in the basement. We knew that we did not have the space or need for something that large, but loved the idea of having a cool dedicated space for our collection. It is one of those luxurious "wish list" touches that you never think to add to your home until you see it somewhere else (and don't realize how much you will actually use it until it is installed). He created this small wine cellar in an awkward narrow closet between the kitchen and living room and lined the walls with stone veneer that you can find at Lowe's or Home Depot, then designed and built this cool shelving system. He's pretty talented if you ask me.

I have been looking into large wine cellar designs for awhile now as we begin the arduous process of preparing to build our next custom home. I was first turned on to the idea of a incorporating a home wine closet design by my dear friend that lives down the street from us. He is an avid collector of all things wine and spirits, so it seemed like a natural progression to have an awesome cellar built in his basement. Inside the cellar (pictured here) he has rows and rows of shelves to store his extensive collection as well as some high tech temperature and lighting control features. You can't tell from this photo, but there is also a cute little bistro table set to accommodate our wine and cheese nights. I think he definitely has the best wine cellar design that I have ever seen, and I can only hope to create something half as nice.

This is such a cool wine cellar because you can see through the glass into the awesome space inside as opposed to tucking it away in the basement or attic. Most people spend a lot of money on wine room design, so why not be able to actually show it off. Whether you like wine or not, these are such unique (and luxurious) spaces that can really brighten up the style and overall feel of your home if you plan and decorate them well. As we have begun the planning process for our own cellar, above all, I want it to feel like a welcoming extension of our cooking that make our guests feel like they are here to be entertained. These rooms are more than just wine storage ideas, they also escalate your lifestyle and any gathering you have at home.

A wine cellar is one of those little (or big) luxuries that you certainly don't *need* but that, once you have, you find uses for it all of the time. Beyond the obvious wine storage, these cute area are an awesome place to put a little bistro table for a fun intimate dinner or to combine with a butlers pantry for extra storage. I really like this design because the stone veneer panels that they used for the walls give it a very "Old World" theme that makes you feel like you stepped inside a villa in the Italian countryside when you open the doors. A custom wine cellar design is definitely one of those frivolous projects but, if you have the money and the space, I don't see why you wouldn't consider adding a fun feature like this to your house.
