Contemporary interior design is one of my absolutely home decor styles because it is always fresh and new looking while still retaining the elegance of more contemporary looks. This living room design is a fantastic example of what I like about contemporary style because, even though the furniture and decor have sleek modern lines, I find the color palette and combination of decor to be quite timeless. In my opinion, the key to success with contemporary decor is keeping a neutral base in wall colors and furniture, then inserting more bold hues via artwork and textiles like throw pillows or rugs. In this particular room, I love the combination of plush indigo fabrics against the crisp white paint and metallic gold accents on the coffee table and framed prints.
Contemporary interior design is one of my favorite styles because nothing is off limits. You can pretty much combine any type of elements you like from cool crown molding ideas, to sleek chrome accents and it will blend together seamlessly as long as you pick the right color palette. For this bedroom I went for a mixture between modern and traditional to create a cool contrast of styles. I think that the rich moss green color on the walls tied the entire space together and made the unique mix of styles actually work. Whenever my friends are planning out their design projects, I always suggest that they research contemporary home decor because I think that it is the easiest style to create if you don't know much about decorating.
I think that contemporary interior design tends to get a bad rap as a style that has to be very cold with no color or personality. In my opinion this is simply not true, I believe that modern interior design can incorporate the same color, personality and warmth as any of your more traditional or classic decor styles. This awesome living area is a great example of how you can create a warm and inviting space while still keeping the simplicity and edginess that you associate with contemporary styles. The best way to achieve a look like this is to pair classic interior design ideas like plush throw pillows, a coordinating area rug, and a good traffic flow, alongside more classically modern pieces like sleek metal furniture a minimalistic concrete fireplace, and cool light fixtures.
When I think about contemporary interior design, a room like this is exactly what I picture. In my opinion modern contemporary interior design is defined by monochromatic color palettes featuring neutral shades, clean simple lines in furniture and textiles, and very organic materials like wood, metal and glass. The combination of all of these elements like in this beautiful home, creates a simplicity that is very attractive to anybody who despises clutter or disorganization. For people like me who thrive on clean spaces and organization, these are the perfect home decor ideas to create a space that instantly relaxes me as soon as I walk through the door no matter what type of day I have had.
In my town, I am known for my unique twist on contemporary interior design. Most of my homes feature sleek neutral color palettes and classic pieces paired alongside funky accents like we used in this living room interior design. I don't like to play by the rules and, in my opinion, no combination is off the table (quite literally). I think that, above all, your decor should be a reflexion of you and what styles, colors, patterns etc. make you happy. This particular homeowner wanted to reuse the vintage farmhouse style table that her grandfather built, but needed to be able to blend it alongside her trendier and more contemporary pieces. We paired it with classic upholstered dining chairs that coordinated well with the colors of the rest of her contemporary house design, then really set it all off with the awesome ornate metal chandeliers hung over the table.
When most people think contemporary interior design, they imagine sleek and edgy pieces in nearly empty rooms with now coziness or comfort. I personally love contemporary interior design styles but I prefer that they have some warmth and homeyness that makes you want to enjoy the spaces with friends and family as opposed to being afraid to touch something in the room. This blue and white living room is one of my favorite designs inspired by creating a warmer yet modern vibe. We went with classic living room decor like all-white couches, a monochromatic paint palette, and plush textiles, but made it a bit more edgy with metal accents and cool modern artwork.
