Ordinarily I would never consider a bright blue shade in the list of potential small bathroom paint colors, but this cheerful master has me reconsidering my stance on things. If I am worried about space and trying to maximize small bathroom ideas, I tend to stick to incredible light and neutral white and grey shades so that the color itself does not overwhelm the rest of the decor. Based on this, I definitely would have thought that a robins egg blue would overwhelm a room of this size, but I actually think that it enhances it! Now I am inspired to look at pictures of the best bathroom paint colors in 2022 with an open mind, willing to consider anything without shutting things down due to space.
Even though I obviously know that I did not need to use small bathroom paint colors for a room of this size, I still stuck with the same principles that I learned from my other home design projects. There is no reason that small master bathroom ideas cannot work equally well in larger spaces -- if anything they will probably enhance them even more. At least that is what I think happened in here. I stuck to three main colors in order to keep things simple -- light aqua, sunny yellowish beige, and a darker brown from contrast. The paint and stain for the wood elements are all Behr paint colors and I actually got the rest of the tile from Home Depot, believe it or not. These are all things that are accessible to just about any homeowner, and were all reasonably priced.
Who says that small bathroom paint colors have to be boring neutral shades, you know? I have never been one to shy away from color, whether it be in fashion, in work or in bathroom paint. Something about this bright and cheerful salmon color really spoke to me, and I actually based the rest of my bathroom design off of this paint shade. It gives me slightly vintage vibes with a unique contemporary twist -- which is a perfect description of my own personal style. Sure, I know that you won't really be seeing this in any collection of trendy bathroom color ideas 2022 on here, but who cares? I like it and it suits my house which is all that matters to me! I encourage you to beat to the tune of your own drum with your home decor.
I am so tired of boring neutral small bathroom paint colors that aim to keep the place looking open, but in reality just make it look so bland. Take this room for example, sure it overall looks fine, but imagine with bright or bold bathroom paint colors that would actually create some dimension and contrast. Isn't that what we all want? Home design that actually makes you cheerful and awake when you walk through a room. But maybe that is just me. All I know is that if I am ever face with having to come up with small bathroom designs in my home, I am definitely not going to shy away from color or pattern. Don't let square footage dictate how you incorporate your own personal style into your home.
I am of the school of thought that you should stick with lighter small bathroom paint colors because I have found that darker or bolder shades tend to overwhelm these rooms. I have definitely been through my share of small bathroom makeovers and experimented with color and pattern every step of the way. Some designs have been successes and some have been failures, but what I have learned is that simplicity tends to be the key when you don't have a large area to work with. If I were to recommend a few fail proof sherwin williams paint colors, I would probably say Swiss Coffee (pictured here) as my top one, and Pigeon gray in a close second. Look them up, I think you will be happy with what you find.
So many people are married to the idea of keeping small bathroom paint colors extremely basic, but I really do not agree with a lot of designers' stances that say you need to limit yourself in that way. I like to pick out bathroom colors based on the style and materials I plan to use, not the square footage of the space. I think that you run the risk of loosing out on so much great style if you allow yourself to be intimidated by smaller layouts. There is absolutely nothing wrong with utilizing bright bold shades in even the tiniest of floor plans. You don't have to do it everywhere, but a nice pop of color like this blue accent wall is a great touch for any size space. If you are researching bathroom paint ideas right now, keep an open mind on everything that you see and don't allow yourself to get boxed in.
