A home movie theater is one of those nonessential rooms that quickly becomes essential once you actually live in a home that has one. I never in my wildest dreams thought that we would move into a house that has a home theater room already built in. But now that I have gotten used to it, quite frankly, I cannot even imagine living without it! The previous owners provided the basis for the design but we did all of the decor ourselves. I research popular home theater ideas 2022 to kind of see where to begin, and then just had fun with the decorating process. These red couches were on super sale so they became the foundation to the design. We decided to go with a classic cinema theme in shades of grey to accent the bold colors of the couches.
This has to be the most stunning home movie theater that I have seen in all of the galleries on here or any other website really. In the past, I really did not think of theater room decor as anything that high end or special. It is usually an area to have fun and use unconventional patterns, colors, and art that you probably would not consider using in other rooms of the home. This place is really something else though! I mean ever detail from the scones on the wall to the gold leaf ceiling is so luxe and, quite frankly, probably some of the most elegant interior designs that I have seen on here. I started looking in these galleries looking for some inspo for our own home theater design and I am definitely going to use this as a basis.
This home movie theater design feels deceptively simple until you really look closer at each and every element that they used. At the basis of it all it has the structure of you're average home theater, with the rows of couches, stadium seating and large projector screen. What really sets it apart though is the dramatic use of pattern on every surface from the carpet, to the wall panels and even the ceiling. Admittedly, I don't think that I would have necessarily done this combination of patterns, but I have to admire them for their creativity. If this were my own diy home theater, I would have gone with the floor covering as my "inspiration piece" and then created the entire room design around that, rather than trying to compete with other patterns.
I know this may not seem like much to some of the ultra rich homeowners on here, but I am so proud of the home movie theater that my family and I build in the unused corner of our basement. Ever since we moved in 10 years ago, I had this area earmarked for a theater. We have been saving up for years now and filing away home decor ideas, so when it finally came time to make our dream a reality, we were totally prepared with plans in hand and materials sourced. If I had to pick my absolute favorite element of the entire thing, I would definitely say that it is the home theater lighting. Of course everything else is super cool, but the lighting really makes it feel like a real theater to me. If anybody else is embarking on one of these projects, I would definitely recommend doing your research on these.
Out of all of the home movie theater photos that I have looked at on here, this one is probably the most unique. I really like how they took popular home design ideas like a dine-at island and large sectional couches and translated them into movie theater form. The island especially makes so much sense to me and I can't believe that more people are not doing that in their theater designs. So many families watch television shows or movies while they are eating to it makes total sense to instal a dining option in here. From now on I definitely think that the best home theater designs are going to have to incorporate something cool and innovative like this if they even want to complete with this house.
A home movie theater is definitely a luxury and I don't take it for granted at all, but I really do not like the style of ours. We didn't built this house, we actually moved in a couple of months ago. I think that the room has a lot of potential, but the home theater decor needs some work. I am not sure why they chose bright blue carpet to go with wood paneled walls and grey fabric ceilings. In my opinion, each of those items clash and do not really create a cohesive look. I want to redo this space so that it is a lot more in line with our home interior design and simply looks like an extension of everything else. We will probably center the design around those blue carpets because I really don't want to have to pay to replace them.
