My husband and I have been trying to combine our favorite modern living room ideas into a single cohesive design to translate into the home we just moved into. Fortunately, our top inspiration living room pictures happen to be pretty similar in that they all feature a fairly neutral color palette, very geometric shaped furniture, and natural materials like granite and wood to provide the foundation of the design. I personally love living room decor ideas that feature a very open layout that is quite conducive to entertaining (I love hosting dinner parties). His primary decor request was to have a large gas fireplace featuring some type of granite front. The home in the photos combined both of our "must-have" lists so we think we are going to try to recreate the same look but with our own personal twist.
Living room design help is one of our most requested services, in part, because the style of this space can really set the tone for the rest of the living areas of your house. Especially with today's popular open concept homes, we tend to carry the color palette and decor style that we used in these gathering areas into the kitchen, dining room and other spaces on the main floor. For this reason, it is very important to keep the "big picture" in mind when you are looking at everything from paint color to living room furniture ideas and artwork. If this sounds like an intimidating commitment, we would certainly suggest starting simple with a fairly neutral color palette and versatile pieces that can blend well with a variety of styles and/or popular trends. As you can see, in this space we kept things very simple with an all white paint palette and selected simple yet elegant contemporary black leather couches. With this as a base you can add in a wide variety of modern living room ideas to accent the space from cool artwork to flower arrangements and accent pieces. These items can be cycled out as trends or decor preferences change over the years.
I love modern living room ideas that combine contemporary styles with more retro-inspired detailing. Between the edgy flat front slate fireplace and the cool chrome light figures and eclectic vintage chairs, this cool modern living room does just that. If you want to recreate this look at your house without a designer, I would definitely look around for an inspiration piece first. For us it was this cool white and chrome rattan-inspired chair. It had all of those retro vibes that we love but with a modern twist from the metal accents. Like all beautiful living rooms, this one began from a single element that caught our eye and then ended up helping us to create the rest of the room around it. Choosing the chair led us to find this great monochromatic grey rug and coordinating coffee table, and the rest of the design just skyrocketed from there.
As an amateur house flipper, I think that I have become an expert in coming up with small living room ideas that maximize the limited space we are given while having enough style to wow potential buyers. This is one of the rooms that we recently finished up, and I actually think that it is one of my favorites so far. We played in safe with the foundation of the room -- an all white monochromatic color palette that follows the "rules" of small space design. As you probably know, keeping things light and bright is one of the best ways to give the illusion that your space is larger than it actually is. To add some unforgettable style to the room, we went with this awesome modern living room furniture set that immediately makes a statement when you enter the door. The color scheme is still neutral enough so as not to crowd the space, but the pops of yellow in the throw pillows and artwork give some excitement to the design and ties the whole room together. After seeing how well this space came together, I will definitely be using modern living room ideas like these in future projects.
As I was searching for modern living room ideas (like I have been doing a lot lately in preparation for our new home to be finished), I found this really beautiful contemporary style home filled with tons of natural light from all of those skylights and windows. That is the main thing I wanted to achieve in this new house, because our old was was so dark and cave-light. I actually focused all of our interior design ideas around building in a bunch of windows to keep the space open and bright. But anyways, aside from the really cool skylights, what drew me to this particular design was the awesome slightly circular couches. It gives the space a very interesting geometric layout and set the foundation for some cool living room decor, also focused on that circular shape. It is a very neat idea and something I am considering trying in the new space.
When clients ask me for cool modern living room ideas with a "wow factor," I always show them this house because I think that the design is so unique. We had so much fun working with these clients because they were not afraid to experiment with bold living room interior design. In fact, they loved our idea to really highlight the beautiful natural surroundings outside of the huge walls of windows, by adding in unique organic elements to the interior design. We based all of our living room ideas around the gorgeous wood and granite fireplace finished in a polished teak wood that is utterly divine against the granite tiles on the adjacent wall. The combination creates the perfect color palette to coordinate with the beautiful rust shades of the cliffs outside the windows.
