So many of my clients request that I create a luxury kitchen design for them, but I have to explain that "luxury" is in the eye of the beholder and is really dependent on what the individual considers high end. For some, a gorgeous marble topped island set in a traditional style space with blue paint colors is the epitome of luxury design where as for others a sleek modern space devoid of much color or design is there ultimate prize. In my opinion, what makes a space high end is the finishes you use as well as the attention to detail. For example, invest in luxury kitchen cabinets that have those small details and trim pieces that you would not necessarily miss if they weren't there, but when you show them in the finished space, they have such a transformative effect.
As I have been looking through photos of luxury kitchen design in order to get some inspiration for my own home remodel project, I came across this fantastic very elegant and contemporary design. I hadn't seen a luxury modern kitchen that featured such simplistic yet classic touches that actually made the space seem versatile enough to attract lovers of both traditional as well as contemporary design styles. I think that the key to achieving this was the beautiful classic shaker style wood cabinetry that they chose for the wall units and then the awesome sleek island that has a bit more edgy style. My kitchen design software allows me to pick specific styles like this and mix and match in order to see which combination I like best, so I think I am going to try to recreate this look in my virtual home on there.
Luxury kitchen design hinges around high end pieces that combine to make a very envious look. One of those pieces that I have been loving lately is a large butcher block island because I feel that they serve so many purposes related to both decor and function. First and foremost, a unit like this adds fantastic style because they are elegant and classic but can incorporate a more contemporary twist as well. You do not see many butcher block topped islands because the general assumption is that they are costly and hard to maintain (both are untrue). For the cost, this luxury kitchen island with a white base and beautiful stained top certainly pulled its weight because it completely transformed the look of the entire space.
Whenever I think about luxury kitchen design, I always picture sleek white solid surface countertops for some reason. I think that they have such an elegant and high end look, and are usually associated with spaces that have been professionally designed because they can be a bit daunting to work with. Although white counters seem like they would go with everything, I feel that it is important to blend them with the right modern kitchen design and color palette in order to make them look their best. I love how they pop against the rich navy blue cabinetry and gold hardware in this particular space because they provide a nice contrast against the darker shades. They are definitely a feature of the high end kitchen design that I want to create in my own home.
Luxury kitchen design is one of my life's passions because I love to create elegant and functional spaces that become the heart of a home. I am a believer that there is no reason that something that is as beautiful as a high end kitchen like this, cannot be completely functional and usable. So many people are scared to mess up interiors like this, but I say jump in and use them, that is what they are here for! For this particular home, we installed all new kitchen cabinets that feature tons of storage to hold all of their appliances (I hate counter clutter) and have soft close doors so you do not have to worry about kids slamming and damaging them. We also used a quartz product that looks like marble but that is so much more durable and easy to maintain than the real thing.
In my opinion (and most of my clients will agree), luxury kitchen design is defined by the high end finishing touches that most homeowners (or even designers) would not think to add. It is those pieces or luxury kitchen ideas that you would not necessarily immediately think to incorporate into the space, but that once they have been installed create a wow factor that really sets the tone for the space. In this particular home, those focal pieces were the tiled back wall that anchors the entire design, as well as the unique retro meets modern geometric island paired with chrome pendent lights hanging about. The modern kitchen cabinets are simple and classic but do not stand out against the rest of these luxurious details.
