We researched deck ideas for such a long time before we came up with this two-story design for the roof of our townhouse. During our house hunt the one thing that I requested was an outdoor area for entertaining. We loved the location and interior of this home but, unfortunately the exterior spaces left something to be desired. After moving in, we immediately hired a designer to assist us with the remodel process. They suggested this multistory design with several entertaining zones in order to maximize our square footage. Once we decided on the design, the next major step was selecting the materials we would use. I have heard a ton of good things about trex decking, both in terms of durability and appearance, and our designer echoed those thoughts. We chose this composite deck product because it is resistant to fading, staining and mold. In addition, it does not require the upkeep of typical wood products and does not need regular painting or staining.

You can simplify shopping for the best composite decking on the market by considering the importance of such key factors as cost, durability, and appearance. Composite decking prices range from about $425 to $650 per 100 square feet. This type of material is attractive, sleek and looks similar to wood, but requires very little maintenance. A composite deck can last for more than 50 years and include such benefits as easy to clean, does not splinter and features high-definition wood grain patterns and rich saturated colors. If you choose composite decking, expect to spend anywhere from $9,000 to $20,000. It tends to be more expensive than traditional deck material; however, it is best for the look of wood and is designed for maximum durability. In addition, most now come with all sides encased in plastic to prevent mildew growth.

The great thing about composite decking is that it comes in kits that make it easy to learn how to build a deck. Installing these decks is easy because they lock into place with a tongue and groove mechanism. Another great part of this alternative solution similar to wood decks is that they will last significantly longer than regular wood materials. You will rarely need a deck cleaner and will not have to refinish or stain your patio frequently throughout the year. Composite deck prices vary depending on the look you are going for. While it may be slightly more expensive to buy composite decking materials than it is to purchase regular wood, what you spend in materials you will save in upkeep and refinishing. You can find this material at your local home improvement store along with composite decking reviews to help you determine which is best for your project.
