If you are looking for country kitchen ideas, look no further than this gorgeous home. As a contractor we see tons of different house designs some better than others. One of our most rewarding jobs are kitchens because the transformations can be huge. Believe it or not this stunning space started out with simple white kitchen cabinets and a tile floor. It was dark and dated, and had no real flow. In order to save room in the budget for the large chefs range, the homeowner had usglaze the existing cabinets and switch out the knobs. This gave it an updated look, while still keeping costs low. This turned out to be a brilliant idea because we were able to finish it fairly quickly and it created this stunning country kitchen style. We also extended their existing island in order to add seating and a bit more storage. After seeing how the cabinets turned out, the homeowner decided to incorporate even more country kitchen ideas to really commit to the style. We added these gorgeous faux marble countertops and a butcher block top to the dining portion of the island. The whole look turned out great.
While it is always fun working with homeowners that have an astronomical budget, sometimes we take on projects that we need to get creative to keep costs low. The kitchen can be an especially costly remodel so, over the years, we have come up with some clever solutions to work within our budgets. We are always on the hunt for cheap kitchen cabinets because they can take over so much of your funding. In general, classic white cabinets are the least expensive because they are so common and simple. They also do not require high quality wood to construct since they are painted. Luckily, this style of cabinetry can be utilized in nearly any decor style from modern to country kitchen designs. This house is a great example of a beautiful renovation done ona budget. We went with pre fabricated white cabinets rather than a custom variety in order to cut costs. Then added whimsical country kitchen elements like this inexpensive butcher block island and slate backsplash. You would never know that this beautiful design was low cost.
This has been one of our favorite French country kitchen designs yet. Our client was remodeling a beautiful historic farmhouse and wanted to add a large chefs kitchen that felt in line with the period style of their home but with all of the modern amenities that a home chef could need. I think we achieved those goals. We began with these gorgeous country kitchen cabinets in rich glazed pine wood. Although most old farmhouses would likely have simple box cabinets, we wanted to elevate the look a bit so we added beautiful panelling and crown molding. For just a bit of variety, we decided to paint the island this rich cream color and accented it with a butcher block countertop. Of course no country kitchen is complete without open shelving, so we added a nook with areas for the homeowner to display some antique trinkets that she had collected over the years. Our favorite part of the French country kitchen design is the lovely breakfast area completed with stone hearth and French doors opening onto their gorgeous brick patio.
Whether you love a traditional look or prefer a more modern space, kitchen cabinets are the one element in this room that largely establishes the overall style. This beautiful home is decorated in an elegant traditional style with fun rustic touches like exposed beams and a beautiful stone hearth. When they recently took on a kitchen remodel project, they asked us to create something that blended well with the other areas of their home, but that was neutral and universal enough in style to appeal to a variety of buyers in case they decided to sell. With this in mind we opted for simple glazed panelled cabinets with a contrasting kitchen island in the center. The combination of these units and finishes lends itself to a country kitchen feel that coordinates well with the rest of their architecture and home decor. However, it can be tweaked with accent colors, fixtures, and other decorative touches to morph into any other style a potential buyer may choose. It is so important to consider this versatility when selecting the finishes for your kitchen.
Kitchen cabinet refacing is a great way to upgrade your home without the time and budget commitments of tearing out all of your existing units and replacing with brand new. I know that it seems like painting your cabinets would not look professional, or you would be able to tell that there are old cabinets underneath. But trust me when I tell you that, when done well, a few coats of paint and varnish produce an absolutely fantastic result. This homeowner wanted to incorporate country kitchen designs into her dark and outdated space with deep cherry panelled cabinets. The units were actually in great condition and had some very nice decorative touches, so we want to try to repurpose them if possible. We chose Benjamin Moore Simple White as the cabinet and island color, then swapped out knobs, faucets and countertops. Because we saved money by not replacing this cabinets, we were able to splurge on the gorgeous marble countertops that give their room the quintessential country kitchen look.
Refinishing kitchen cabinets is an incredibly easy and cost effective way to makeover a space quickly. Cabinetry is oftentimes the most expensive element of a kitchen design and tends to limit where you can spend in other areas of the room. If you can eliminate some of that cost by painting them rather than buying all new units, you can afford to spend a bit more in other decorative areas like countertops, backsplaces and fixtures. Similarly, if you like the idea of refinishing, but dont like the style of your units, replacing kitchen cabinet doors is always a good option. For example, if the homeowner didnt like the panelled doors that give this room its country kitchen look, you could keep the base and swap out the doors for something a bit more modern or updated in style. This technique is a fraction of the cost of purchasing an entire unit, and gives you a bit more versatility when repurposing old cupboards. If you are happy with the existing style, simply painting them in a new color can absolutely transform the look of the kitchen.
