I really enjoy a modern dining room that makes an artistic statement in and of itself. Each element of this space, from the trendy modern furniture, to the awe-inspiring chandelier , and boldly colored artwork is a statement piece on its own. Combined together, they create an absolutely enchanting design design that sparks the imagination. My favorite part of the entire space, is how the navy and gold canvases tie together each element of this design. All of the modern dining room ideas that they incorporated can be tied to this inspiration piece and, as such, they all work together in perfect harmony. Although this design seems like it would be a complex look to achieve, if you take the same basic decor principles, I believe it would be quite simple to recreate at home.
I love this space because it is a very unique twist on a modern dining room that also incorporates the classic elegance of more colonial styles. The dining room colors are quite traditional especially with the heavy wall panelling, crown molding and ceiling trim work. Despite this foundation for the design, the rest of the decor is quite starkly modern. The dining room tables and chairs feature contemporary lines and very modern style fabrics -- this creates a very cool contrast against the architectural details throughout the room. The awesome duel chandeliers hanging over the table also present a very trendy modern vibe and look fantastic hanging from the thickly paneled ceiling.
The modern dining room is a much less traditional formal space than in years past. So many homeowners tend to forget that room because they have no reason to have a large very formal table and dining chairs set because gatherings are much more casual in nature. I like this designer's approach to the modern dining room because they made the look very approachable -- one that is not only useful during formal holiday meals, but one that could be used on a daily basis. Contemporary dining room sets like this rustic wood table paired casual fabric-covered chairs create an elegant yet trendy space that could be used for office work, weeknight dining, or parties.
This home has such a great twist on a modern dining room that has some lovely traditional elements to balance the design. Although their house is quite contemporary in architectural style, I like how they opted for a more classic dining table design. The dark farmhouse style wood table and Ratan chairs offset the sleek columns and metal detailing on the stairs to bring a perfectly balanced look to their open concept floor plan. I think that if they had used one of the more edgy glass and metal modern dining room sets that you often see in a house like this, that the overall look would not have been as warm and inviting. I much prefer a design like this that feels welcoming to friends and family as they walk in.
The key piece in any modern dining room is the table and chairs. In a contemporary design, color palettes and decorative items are kept fairly minimalistic, so it is important to make a bold statement with any modern dining room furniture that you choose. This table and chairs set is a great example because it features simple clean lines and a bold finish of contrasting colors, that presents a nice focal piece in the all white room. The artwork the designer chose pulls in the ebony and dark tan finishes of the chairs so as to create a cohesive look. I also enjoy the all-white crown molding ideas they added in order to bring just a bit more decorative detailing without overwhelming the space with a new color or pattern.
I cannot say enough good things about this modern dining room design. Between the glass dining table that perfectly reflects the two huge crystal chandeliers to the color palettes of grey and blues, I think that every detail is absolute perfection. I really enjoyed how this designer managed to perfectly blend traditional architectural elements with more contemporary styles in a way that is very elegant and chic. It goes to show that you can experiment with a variety of trends without feeling like you have to box yourself in to one particular style. The simplest way to achieve this, is by look for contrasting dining table ideas to your architecture.
