Beautiful staircases can set the tone for the entire home from the moment you walk in the front door (if it is in the entryway of course). Believe it or not, I actually based all of my home decor ideas around this grand staircase in our foyer because I think that it is such a beautiful architectural piece. I took the color palette from the taupe and beige shades that are woven throughout the carpet that goes up the staircase, and then used dark woods and metal accents into the kitchen and throughout the artwork. The wall paint colors were pulled from the carpet as well and contrast really nicely against all of the white trim and the lovely marble floors of the entry. I love how the whole area turned out!
It seems that the one thing that all of the beautiful staircases on here have in common is the use of decorative metal work on the bannisters and railings. Even people with super traditional home design seem to be moving away from completely wood staircase units, and instead are mixing and matching materials and styles in order to get a really unique and inclusive design. This is super smart because something like this is most likely not going to be ripped out of somebody new buys the house. That means that, while you want it to look grand and extravagant, it also has to fit well with a tone of style preferences. Whomever designed this curved staircase knew what they were doing because it perfectly combines modern and traditional detailing to create a very universal piece.
I'll be honest, one of the things that truly "wows" me the most when I walk into someones home is if they have beautiful staircases like this. For some reason I just associate that with ultra high end design and also the extra thought and care that goes into planning out some of those loftier details like architecture. My favorite way to do a grand staircase is mixing traditional hardwood stairs with a really nice modern railing (like the unit pictured here). In this way, you get the best of both worlds as far as broad style preferences, and it creates a more interesting looking design. In fact, if I had to narrow down what I would consider to be the "perfect" staircase ideas, it would definitely be this exact photo.
If I were to think about the most beautiful staircases that I have ever seen (both in person and on the internet), this home would definitely take the top spot. Most homeowners are definitely not brave enough to do stair railing ideas like this in just a large expanse of an area (between the balcony and the stair case itself). This person really went there though, and I applaud them for it! Look how the intricate metal detailing makes an appearance on the front door and transom window as well as the entire staircase. Little details like that tie everything together perfectly, and keeps it all looking very cohesive and "finished." Of course, beyond the staircase, that have some really beautiful home design ideas in general but I am really here for that artistic metalwork.
If I had to pick my favorite out of all of the beautiful staircases that I have seen on here, it would definitely be this home. I love a grand staircase that curves all the way around to meet with a balcony on the second floor. It just makes such a bold statement when you walk in the door of someones house and really sets the tone for the rest of the home design ideas beyond. I have found that people who have really intricate staircases like this, often focus more on the foundational architecture than on actual home decor. This makes a lot of sense to me though because a modern staircase like this really acts as artwork on its own, so you don't even need to add much else as far as wall decor, furniture, etc. That makes spending the money on something like this worth it because you can really go easy on the other decorative elements.
I think that beautiful staircases like this are totally underrated and under-appreciated. So many people concentrate on the decor that they put in there homes and not on the actual architecture of the place. In my opinion, there is nothing more stunning than a gorgeous modern stair railing done all in glass and metal because it makes such a bold statement the moment you walk in the door. In fact, I consider a feature like this to be akin to hanging a large piece of artwork in the entry way -- the effect is entirely the same. I would definitely encourage any homeowners on here that are building or even renovating their staircase design to really put some thought into it, and to see if you can make it into something more than just the way to get to the second floor.
