I have heard multiple people on here raving about kitchen cabinet refacing and was wondering if you think that this technique could be used to recreate the style of the home in these photos. Currently we have your typical paneled 1990s oak cabinets that are in pretty good condition but just look outdated. I would really love to replace them with shaker-stye white kitchen cabinets like the ones in these photos, but I know that a project of that scale will be outside of my current budget limitations. At first I considered painting them, but I think that the style would still be too traditional for the look that I am trying to achieve.
I've said it once and I'll say it again, I can't believe how much kitchen cabinet refacing can completely transform how a room looks and for pennies compared to what a design like this would usually cost. You can achieve the same look as some of the best kitchen cabinets on the market, even with your old and outdated units but just replacing the doors and refinishing the exterior. I have seen rooms where they have stripped and then re-stained cabinetry and I have seen kitchens like this one where they just paint them all in a fresh new color. To be honest this is probably the quicker and easier of the two options, and most likely the trendier pick as well.
I want to scream from the rooftops about how amazing kitchen cabinet refacing is -- I just can't believe how much of a difference you can make for (relatively) little cost. We were quoted at nearly $100,000 for a full kitchen cabinet remodel that included floors, tile, and countertops. Great kitchen design is certainly a valuable part of your home's resale value so I understand spending that much money I suppose, but it was not something we wanted to do if we didn't have to. My neighbor actually told me about an alternative to buying all new kitchen cabinets called refacing.
A lot of homeowners ask me for more affordable ways to upgrade their main living areas in a way that they will definitely see a return on their investment. I always recommend kitchen cabinet refacing because this room is one that potential buyers are always looking to to see the age and relative upkeep of the home. What they say about kitchens selling homes is certainly true, so if you are going to spend money in any place in your home, it should certainly be that room. Now, with that being said, I definitely understand if you don't want to spend the kind of money necessary to install the latest trending kitchen cabinet ideas 2020 (especially if you are thinking about moving within a couple of years).
I can't believe what a difference something as easy and inexpensive as kitchen cabinet refacing made on our space. Before these photos were taken, we had a mostly traditional style home at least as far as the existing kitchen cabinet design was concerned. My husband and I have a very modern personal style, and we knew that we would want to carry that throughout all of the main living spaces in our new home. The first area that had to be addressed upon move in was the kitchen because we spend so much time in there. As I am sure you know, purchasing a home can be expensive though so we wanted to use a little of the budget as we could on the cabinetry.
I don't think that many homeowners realize what a drastic difference kitchen cabinet refacing can make on the overall look of pretty much all of the main living areas of the home. In my opinion the kitchen serves as the thermometer of how updated and trendy a home is because it is often one of the most expensive features. When you think about it this way, it definitely makes refinishing or painting kitchen cabinets worth it if it is going to essentially revitalize the majority of your home. That being said however, I totally understand how renovating a kitchen can really put a strain on the budget and, as such, is often prohibitory for homeowners.
