This is a photo of our new home, and I am trying to figure out if I should do a total kitchen cabinet remodel or just paint them white or another color. I think that the kitchen cabinet design is actually quite nice, the panelling is beautiful and there are a lot of intricate detailing that I know was quite costly to install. I am just a bit nervous at the thought of repainting them in case it doesn't turn out well or hold up over time. I have seen a ton of kitchen remodel pictures where they repaint units just like this and it looks fabulous, so I know that I should not worry. Have any of you all painted your cabinets, and would you do it again if you could?
As my husband and I have been looking at house to buy lately, it has really surprised me how many would requite a total kitchen cabinet remodel. I am all for planning kitchen makeovers, to me it is so fun to transform a space that so integral to any home. Whether those makeovers are a complete gut job were you rip everything out or something more simple that you can paint the cabinets, I love it all. The one thing that worries me is the cost of kitchen cabinets, because they can add up quickly especially when you are trying to recreate a space like this dream home that I have chosen as my inspiration.
I really wanted to show off photos of our kitchen cabinet remodel because I think that the difference is just enormous. I had looked and galleries filled with kitchen pictures for months trying to narrow down exactly what style, finish, and decor theme I wanted to go with for the space. Ultimately, I opted to go with a dark cherry because I think that it is a timeless traditional design. I'll admit, I was extremely nervous to see the final cost of new kitchen cabinets but I was actually pleasantly surprised at the relatively budget friendly options that Lowe's had.
I am head over heals in love with this beachy kitchen cabinet remodel that our designer Barbara just finished up in our lake cottage. We wanted our kitchen remodel to a mixture of nautical and whimsical with a quant rustic feel to it -- I tall order I know. All white with ship lap seemed like the obvious choice as the foundation of the design, but I love how she also incorporated this gorgeous aqua island as a fun accent. We kept on trend with popular kitchen design 2019 ideas like the cool metallic subway tile bar and marble countertops but, as a whole, tried to keep everything fairly timeless so that it would look fantastic for years to come.
It is much harder breaking into the interior design world than I anticipated, and this stunning house was actually the first kitchen cabinet remodel I was hired for. Now that it is over, I have definitely learned a ton about the process and found out areas that I could definitely plan better later, especially if I am going to install black kitchen cabinets again. First of all, not all shades of black are created equal, some lean grey while others look almost navy. So if you are planning on mixing and matching different units or even paint colors, make sure that you do not take images of kitchen cabinets and face value and always always order samples.
I am pretty proud of this kitchen cabinet remodel because it is definitely one of the more unique themes I have taken on. The homeowner wanted to create a space that was a mixture of rustic and modern (but didn't exactly explain what pieces of each style they like the best). I scoured my files for kitchen remodel ideas pictures that may blend the two styles or at least give me inspiration of things I could pull from each theme then blend together later. I ended up deciding on a rustic natural wood material for the cabinets, but with a sleek modern style to them. I topped off the modern kitchen cabinets with glass sliding doors accented with chrome, and then finished it off with a more traditional white painted island and marble floors.
