This space right here is my absolute dream kitchen. In fact, it has everything I could ever even want including a kitchen island with seating for 4, huge viking range with stainless steel hood, and even vaulted ceilings! I spotted this home when I was looking for potential kitchen ideas 2022 for the remodel that we are going to be undertaking this year. It is a big and expensive job and, for that reason, we want to be sure that we do it right and make it absolutely perfect (we plan on staying in this home forever). A large kitchen island like this is definitely at the top of my list of must-haves, especially with 3 small children. I can just envision them doing homework there over the years or having their friends over for dinner.
As we have been working with our contractors and interior decorators, the one thing that I keep reiterating is that on the very top of my wish/want list is a kitchen island with seating for 4. The kids are constantly in and out of the that room doing homework, snacking, playing with friends etc., so I really wanted to incorporate larger kitchen island ideas with seating so that they could do all of those things while I can supervise them (as I cook and what not). Plus I just think that it makes for some fun memories. After going through so many pictures that I think my brain might explode, I finally found my inspiration design in these photos. In my opinion, the best kitchen islands anchor the space, and this one certainly achieves that. I love the balance between the faux hearth around the range and the island design, especially with the unique tray ceiling installed above it.
I am absolutely in love with this elegant home featuring one of my favorite features -- a kitchen island with seating for 4 perfect for our growing family. We have been having so much fun with the house hunting process thus far, and actually think that this one may be "the one" purely because of this room -- or more specifically, the beautiful light blue kitchen island. The entire place is so put together and looks like nothing I would ever think to design on my own (which I actually love). The two main requests I had for the new house was a first floor master bedroom and a large kitchen island with seating, and this one has them both! I need to post pictures of the master bathroom next because, if you think this island is pretty, wait until you see what they did in that room!
I have been looking online all day today trying to pick our the best plans for a kitchen island with seating for 4 because we are renovating our home and that is high up on my list of things that I want to add this round. It seems like the kitchen island table is the latest trend but I am not sure how I feel about that -- I am more inclined to do an design like this that is multifunctional with a sink, dishwasher etc. installed. Our space is shaped similarly but isn't quite as large as this one, but I still think that we could fit a small kitchen island with enough seating for all of us. I would imitate the same type of chandelier hanging over the center to make it seem more formal, and would probably even more the sink over there to make it just about identical.
It is funny how popular designs featuring a kitchen island with seating for 4 have become because, when we were building this house, we simply could not find any plans for a feature like that. I think that most designs of that era (about 15 years ago) featured a one wall kitchen with sort of a ship galley design. We thought that we were being so innovative building a large island that divided the living room and kitchen so that we could see our kids (so young at the time) while we cooked. Now everybody is trying to incorporate large kitchen island ideas with seating so it is so easy to find builders and design inspiration. We just upgraded the kitchen to a more contemporary decor, but kept the same kitchen island design, and I think that it looks even better than it did before.
Back in my day it was a rarity to find a house with a kitchen island with seating for 4 (we have a lot of kids), but now they are everywhere. I wanted to post some pictures of our home on here to see if you thought that we should bother renovating/updating our kitchen before we sell it in the next couple of years. I wasn't sure if the kitchen island with seating that we have is enough to make the space feel contemporary or if we should go ahead and paint the cabinets or something to give it a newer look. It is always a gamble to figure out if you space will appeal to others or not, especially when you work so hard on the little details like we did with our kitchen island designs. So I figured I would use this site as a focus group and see what everybody on here thought we should do.
