I think that there is a common misconception that you should be bold and colorful with backsplash ideas for white cabinets because the rest of the room is usually quite simple. I personally think that this technique could be a huge mistake because kitchen backsplash designs can truly overwhelm a room if you are not careful. For example, take this charming all white kitchen with shiplap accents on the walls and ceiling and very cool brass range hood. We went with a simple subway tile backsplash to allow all of the unique architectural elements to shine, but if we had done a trendy glass tile or a pop of a color, I think that it would cheapen the rest of the carefully curated white kitchen ideas and bring the entire look down.
I know that a lot of people would think that these white subway tiles that we used are some of the most boring backsplash ideas for white cabinets that we could have chosen, but I think that there is something so elegant about the simplicity of the look. I never wanted the kitchen backsplash ideas that we use to overwhelm the rest of the design, because we do have a lot going on in here with the floor and the color of granite. If we had done something more colorful or with more pattern, I think it could have clashed and quickly overwhelmed the space. That is why I think that this subway tile backsplash that we chose is the absolute perfect option for the space. What do you guys think?
This is by far one of the most unique backsplash ideas for white cabinets that I have seen on here. It combines two of the most popular (and my favorite) trends in backsplashes this year -- a white marble backsplash and subway tile. While I do love the concept and creativity behind this, I have to admit that I think that this would be more effective in a contemporary style home rather than the ultra traditional kitchen. It feels like it clashes with the rest of the decor and does not really enhance the look like I am sure they were going for. I would have gone with more simple white kitchen backsplash ideas like either the subway or the marble for example. Or if they wanted to bring a little bit more flare to it, perhaps do a marble herringbone design.
I love how diverse that you can be with backsplash ideas for white cabinets, and how these things can bring so much personality to the kitchen. Since I am talking about bringing in personality, I bet you were expecting that I would post photos of some super colorful and bold kitchen backsplash ideas with white cabinets, but instead I did this plain white miniature subway tile haha. The reason I posted this is because it goes to show how much fun you can have with color, even if the more "permanent" elements of the space are neutral. I love the combination of all white with a pop of personality from the blue kitchen cabinets that they used for the island. That combined with the brightly colored canisters and salt and pepper shakers make it so whimsical and fun.
When it comes to backsplash ideas for white cabinets, I am not one of those people that feels the need to bring in a ton or color or design. I think that there is real value in simplicity, whether that be the clean lines of shaker style cabinets or simple marble backsplash tile ideas. You don't have to be over the top to establish great style -- sometimes I think that it is actually better (and more high end) to go with really high quality chic and elegant neutrals. I love the backsplash designs in here especially, because the marble is super traditional, but the subway blocks give it a more current and on trend look. That combines with the industrial style range hood and the contrasting island, give this traditional kitchen a more modern flare.
These were such perfect backsplash ideas for white cabinets because they played up the contemporary accents in their kitchen so nicely. This is also a fantastic example of why this particular style of white kitchen cabinets is so popular. The panelling style can be interpreted as traditional or contemporary depending on what types of decorative accents you pair with them. In this case they did an ultra modern glass tile, matte black hardware and some bright pops of color. You could just as easily do some of the super trendy marble backsplash ideas 2022 with polished nickel hardware and blue and white ginger jar accents to achieve a more traditional look. It is the ability to transform a kitchen like this that make designing so fun to me.
