Deck Designs

I never quite realized how much deck designs can truly transform your yard until we redid ours this summer.  We had been going back and forth between a couple of deck ideas for years now but were never really ready to commit until hurricane damage required us to make some repairs to the exterior.  We figured that if we were already spending the money to get that done, we may as well just freshen up the rest of our property while we were at it.  We opted for the best composite decking product at our local lumbar yard in hopes that it would withstand the sometimes unpredictable weather that we have here in Florida.  More importantly, I chose a soft brown tone for the color that I thought would contrast nicely against our all-white modern facade.

Now these awesome new deck designs are certainly something to talk about if you love outdoor renovations like I do! Ever since I was young, I always wanted to have wide covered porches that wrapped around the entire house. I couldn't picture anything better than deck design ideas with wide classic columns, bead board ceilings and rocking chairs placed every five feet or so.  With this being said, I am sure that it is not hard to imagine what attracts me to this gorgeous Florida home.  Our current house is certainly not as large as this, but I think that we could at least mimic the deck railing ideas in order to come up with a somewhat similar design.

This is probably one of the most epic deck designs that I have come across -- it looks like there are three or four levels in total!  I came across this awesome cabin while I was looking for backyard deck ideas and ways that we can create a two-story design on our existing house.  Now our architecture looks nothing like this, it definitely leans way more cape cod than rustic cabin chic.  But I still think that we could use a similar concept just under the umbrella of a different decor style.  One of my favorite things about these deck designs pictures is the fairly see through railings.  I hate when the railing blocks off the view beyond with too thick of spindles.

I never realized how complicated picking out deck designs for your home can be but, apparently, there is a lot to consider before you actually start building.  I figured that I would simply pop on here and check out the latest deck ideas 2020, find something I like, and call the contractor up to add it to our house.  There are so many other decisions involved though like what height you want, the square footage and shape relative to the lines of your home, how many staircases, what materials would hold up best in your climate, and the list goes on and on.  I have decided that, if possible, I would really like to recreate this style composite deck in a light grey shade with a single grand staircase that goes down to the lawn area of our backyard.

Coming up with the right deck designs for your yard can be a very personal project, because the perfect plan for your home is really going to depend on how you and your family like to spend your time and entertain.  This is especially the case for above ground pool deck ideas because the way that you layout the space really hinges on if you have children (especially small children) and what kind of gathering areas you want to plan for.  If you have small kids, you will likely want to install some sort of safety feature to prevent accidents (this could be the case if you have elderly residents as well).  In addition you may want to create dedicated dining areas or some place to lounge.

When it comes to awesome deck designs, I tend to look for photos of log cabins as inspiration because they often utilize their outdoor space to the fullest.  The pictures of decks from this home were no different -- you can tell how they took advantage of any flat space including roof areas to give them the most outdoor square footage possible. I also really like how they tied together the entire architectural design by using logs as the structural support and posts for the deck railings. This helps the patios not to look too random next to the rest of the very traditional style log home.  Homes like these may not pop up in the usual deck ideas 2019 search, but I would definitely seek them out for some fantastic and unique inspiration.
