After playing around with this very basic home design 3d app that I downloaded to my phone, I got so excited by this type of technology that I would really like to invest in something more professional. I am sure that every homeowner thinks this after they get a little taste of a home design app, because it makes you feel like you never need to hire somebody again. And maybe you don't. But I am sure that there are some things that an amateur like myself or a computer program just won't think of. Not to toot my own horn, but I came up with this entire house design in about a day or two, and I put everything in there from our outdoor patios and drive way to the skylights I want to put on the roof. Next step is obviously the interior but, now that I have the program figured out, I bet I can whip that up in no time.
If you are not using one of these home design 3d programs to play around with anything from interior decor projects to actually building a home from the ground up, then you are totally missing out. I mean check out these pictures of the totally radical living room design I planned out in like an afternoon. I was able to pick everything from the type of rug I wanted on the floor, to the cloud sofas from Restoration, to even putting my wife in the chair by the fireplace. It is crazy how far home design software has come in the last ten years after I used it last. I mean with that stuff it was basically like using that program Paint and you only had access to two dimensional designs. Technology is amazing man.
Well, with this home design 3d app that I downloaded I was able to build out my dream kitchen and create a smoking hot wife to cook for me! Haha I am really not that creepy, I just thought it was cool that you could create people in your home designs also. Of all of the kitchen design software that I researched, this one was definitely the highest reviewed. Most likely due to the advanced features (like the hot wife) and how detailed you can get with the materials and decorative accents that you put in there. I mean this place looks like it was professionally designed and decorated and, in reality, it was just me playing around and getting the whim to design kitchen online in my free time.
If there is one thing that I learned from my brief time playing around with this home design 3d program, is that you cannot underestimate the influence of color on a room. I had to have gone through 20 or 30 different shades of white and grey before I actually found the ones that I chose for this room. Thank goodness I had a room design app that I could play around with so that I did not waste time or money going to the store and picking out the wrong shades. I guess that is why they sell those tiny tubs of paint to test out a swatch on your wall first. If you have the time and a computer, I would definitely look for software that allows you to design a room online free because it just makes the whole process that much easier.
In all of my years of being a professional designer, there are very few tools that stand the test of time, but I think that home design 3d software is going to be one of them. This is one of those technology items that I don't think that anybody in the interior design or architecture world will recover from because it makes home design so much easier. Well maybe easier is not the word, but it makes helping a client to see your vision much easier and more effective. For example, I was having a hard time really dialing in to what one particular client of mine wanted for their master bath. Finally I just drew it up in the bathroom design software that I have, and once she was able to do a virtual walkthrough, she was able to articulate the style and theme she envisioned much better.
I am totally loving how advanced some of this home design 3d software has gotten these days. I mean, check this out, I can actually put my family and my dog inside my new home with this house design app I randomly downloaded from the internet! Beyond the ability to do cool stuff like that, I also appreciate how detailed you can get with the actual home planning process. With this program I was able to customize just about everything from the door trim color to the types of landscaping I surrounded the new house with. If anybody is in the home building process or may be in the future, definitely check out some of these new programs that allow you to plan out your home design online. It really helps you to visualize exactly what you are creating, far more than swatches and blueprints will.
