Small swimming pools in the backyard are becoming such a huge trend for 2020 and I am hear for it. We have been tossing around the idea of using lap pool ideas to jazz up our outdoor living space because the yard is such an awkward shape -- it is super long but quite narrow. I think that a pool like this (especially with the awesome lights and hot tub) would be such a fun addition and would definitely utilize the space far more than what is going on out there now. I think that replicating these swimming pool pictures would actually make the size and shape of the yard look like it makes sense and like it was on purpose rather than an after thought.
One of my favorite trends for 2020 is installing small swimming pools in very tiny backyards that are essentially useless when it comes to landscaping. I think that it is a much better use of space to just eliminate the grass all together and turn the entire backyard area into a patio space with a lap pool. This looks far more impressive when you are looking out of your windows, and is a lot more functional than having a 12 foot strip of grass or bushes out back. Not to mention that installing one of these small inground pools is such a fantastic investment because it definitely makes the home seem more fun and luxurious, and is far less costly to install and maintain than your average size pool.
When we were looking for townhomes/row houses during our latest move, one of the big things that I was hoping to get was a yard with one of those small swimming pools that you are seeing in a lot of the higher end decor magazines lately. I am thrilled to say that we found one that we absolutely loved and actually fit in our budget! As far as small pool designs go, the one at this house is definitely pretty simple, but I think that it is the rest of the outdoor entertaining space (and that fireplace!) that really sets in apart and makes it something special. The major selling point of this house was actually this small backyard area.
Small swimming pools seem to be gaining in popularity this summer even more so than in years past. This absolutely thrills me because our property is fairly tiny so all we can fit is one of these small backyard pools like a single lap lane or even an oversized hot tub. I am giving these photos to our contractor as pretty much a guideline of what it is we want to add for the project we hired them for. Our goal before next summer comes around is to have a little rectangular pool with a neighboring covered patio with built-in television like in this first photo. The other major request is the fake grass boarders between cement pads like I have been seeing all over the trendy small pool ideas 2020 idea guides.
I never realized how gorgeous small swimming pools could be until I started looking around at photos of lap lanes with the intention of trying to squeeze one into our limited backyard area. Much to my surprise, small pools actually seem to be more common than I realize. I have seen photos of them installed on a huge property in a seemingly enchanted garden like this one (my personal favorite design), and I have seen them added to the back of a townhouse right alongside the patio. I am not sure if these have been popular for years now and I just never realized it or if they are a new trend in pool landscaping ideas 2020.
I am so thrilled that small swimming pools are very much in style now because we have quite a limited area in the backyard to install some sort of water feature. My kids and I have been looking at inground swimming pools for years trying to figure out a way to fit one on our property. They want to be able to hang out with friends in the backyard (and I want that for them too), and nothing sounds better to me than floating along in the water on a hot summer day. Out of all of the pool designs for small yards that I have seen, this design is by far my favorite. I love how the lap pool is basically a built in fixture of their patio, and looks really elegant beside the covered porch and the rest of the decor out there.
