I have gone through so many covered deck ideas trying to figure out the perfect decor for this back patio area. As you can see from our currently very bare and colorless deck designs pictures, the space has some awesome bones with great architecture and very plain materials, but it is severely lacking any real style. I figured that it would probably be a good idea to carry the same type of decor vibe that we have going on in the interior of the house through to the outdoor spaces, but I did want to make it a little bit more fun. The rest of our home is decorated in an ultra chic contemporary style and primarily done in black and white. I would prefer to incorporate some more colorful small deck ideas to give this space a very party-oriented feel, but without completely taking a 180 degree turn from inside.
These covered deck ideas sure to make this backyard the central party zone of the neighborhood. I mean this place has it all -- a huge pool with fountains to play in, awesome lounge areas, an outdoor kitchen, and a lovely covered porch to shield you from the sun. I definitely think that this is a great example of how to combine deck design ideas in a way that feels very stylish but that is also super functional as well. This is exactly the look that I want to achieve in the back of our property. Right now all we have is grass, but I want to install a pool, add a patio or deck cover to give different zones for entertaining, and eventually I would love to add a huge grill/outdoor kitchen area.
I don't think that anybody could possibly disagree that covered deck ideas make any home better. While it is certainly important to beautify you interior rooms, I consider it a dire mistake to forget about your outdoor spaces. These are the areas that oftentimes host the funnest gatherings and are the setting of the best memories and, as such, you better make you backyard deck ideas exceptional. We spent a little bit of extra time this year getting our back porches ready for the summer season so that our friends and family would have a memorable area to spend their summer evenings. As you can see from these pictures of decks that line the back of our mountain cabin, we have multiple entertaining zones, each with a little something different.
Finding good covered deck ideas was surprisingly challenging because we were very specific in what we were looking to install. I would say that most deck roof ideas that we came across were fully covered, meaning that there were no openings to let sunlight or anything in. While that is certainly beneficial if you are trying to protect yourself against rain, we wanted to have more ventilation and sun shining through. Once we figured out that a pergola was more of what we were looking for, we set out to try to plan how to incorporate it into our existing deck designs. I would say that our architectural style is pretty modern, so we wanted to make sure that we stuck with a very simple and angular design. As you can see our pergola takes up most of the deck and provides a ton of shade without being too enclosing.
I wish that the covered deck ideas that I am looking for were for a gorgeous ocean front home like this one. But alas, I am trying to find photos as inspiration for covered deck designs for our very land locked house in Kentucky. We want an area that is shielded from sun and rain, so we can enjoy more time outside without having to go in and out when the weather is too extreme. Beyond being a functional piece that will allow us to entertain outdoors more frequently, we also want this to look beautiful and upgrade the overall design of our backyard. Glancing through the galleries of deck ideas 2022, I really did not find anything that I truly liked until I got to these stunning water front homes. I love how the covered patios of these houses look one with the overall house design, as opposed to an afterthought.
I found this stunning beach house online while I was searching for covered deck ideas and I just can't seem to get it out of my head! Of course it is totally out of my budget to get a place like this, but I was thinking that I could repurpose some of their maritime style deck railing ideas in my own (land locked) house. I would love to have this cozy yet quite functional looking covered deck out back by the pool to give us a shaded spot to recline in when we have had too much sun. Most of the trending deck ideas 2022 that I have seen on here have this all wood design, and a lot have a built in pergola on type in order to create more of an established room. If you are going to spend the money to build any type of structure outdoors (out of your main interior living spaces), I think that it should be highly functional in order to get the most bang for your buck.
