This house has some of my favorite man cave bar ideas that I have seen because the decor is definitely different than most but is still upscale and trendy at the same time. I have been have so much fun looking through man cave ideas 2020 on a quest to have my husband new basement oasis all planned out in time for his birthday next month. I am surprising him with this renovation, and I want it to be absolutely perfect because he deserves a spot to hide away with his friends away from the kids (and I haha). My favorite part about this design is the wood planks that they used on the walls and ceiling. Rustic country decor is some of our favorite and we have touches of it throughout the rest of our home, so this room would be right in line with our style.
When I did a quick google of man cave bar ideas, I truly never expected to see the countless epically decorated rooms that immediately come up. I mean some of the man cave designs that people have done in there homes look like an actual bar that you would go have a drink at after work (every man's dream right). Of everything that I saw, this particular design stood out to me because it seemed like the most manageable in an actual residential setting and, overall, I really liked the style that they chose. My husband has always brought up using more rustic home decor but I have dismissed it because it doesn't go with the elegant traditional style that I have been curating.
Although I have about 5 years of experience in the home design world (and have owned my company for that long) I have actually never done a bar design. That is why I am on here browsing around for man cave bar ideas to prepare some potential design story boards for a client that wants to surprise her husband when he returns from a deployment over seas. I think that a man cave is quite often ever husbands dream because it provides them with a zone to escape to and call their own outside of the rest of the carefully curated rooms in the house. Plus, they generally make you the envy of all of your buddies. Her husband loves to fish so I wanted to incorporate that personal element to his man cave wall decor.
When I was looking for man cave bar ideas for our new home, it was really important to me that we carry the same neutral "rustic meets contemporary" styling that we have used throughout the rest of our home. I have seen a man cave bar or two on here that really goes after that "bar" idea in that they are filled with sports memorabilia, neon signs etc. All of the things that you would think of in a stereotypical sports bar. While I certainly want this to be a fun zone so to speak, I still want it to have some elegance. The floor tiles design down here in the basement was actually the single piece that inspired me the most.
I always love it when a client comes to me looking for man cave bar ideas, because they are such fun projects that I have the freedom to use a little bit more creativity and playfulness than in other rooms in the house. I think that the best man caves are one that brings in the personality of the owner -- that could be favorite sports, teams, hobby, or other interests (I loved a military themed one I did for an Air Force veteran a few years back). For this particular client, he wanted to go with an old school bar theme complete with vintage pool table, classic wood paneled bar, and an old movie posters used as artwork. These choices actually blended really nicely with the rest of the home design ideas that they had throughout their other living spaces, so it made for a nice transition from the upstairs areas to the basement man cave.
I have had so much fun looking for some man cave bar ideas for our basement (we are planning on remodeling this winter). My husband has been wanting to create some type of really cool space in the unused area downstairs so we started tossing around the concept of incorporating really cool (but still elegant) man cave ideas that would give him a space to hang out with his friends or for the kids to use when they get in their teen years (minus the bar of course). I really love this chic British themed design because it goes well with the contemporary vibe of the rest of our house, but still has that masculine vibe that he likes. I am going to have so much fun looking for man cave decor to fill up the space like this.
