Outdoor Patio Designs

This homeowner did so well in picking out outdoor patio designs that match the exterior of their home absolutely perfectly.  Lately I have been totally loving the influx of awesome patio paver ideas that have hit the design scene this year.  I think that pavers are a fantastic material to work with because they are on the lower end of the budget compared to things like brick or stone, but they look absolutely beautiful if you plan out your design in advance.  The material they chose for their large wrap around patio coordinates to nicely with the stacked stone exterior of their home retaining wall that surrounds the entertaining area.

I love the simple yet elegant outdoor patio designs of this home because it is luxurious enough to coordinate well with the lavish architecture of the rest of the home, yet playful enough to be perfect for backyard parties of all types.  My firm and I were responsible for designing the architecture for the rest of the home, so it was a natural decision for us to take on the outdoor covered patio project as well.  We loved working with these clients because of their creativity and willingness to experiment with unconventional concepts, so this patio build was a dream come true.  We wanted the space to feel timeless but still incorporate a lot of the trendy patio ideas 2019 that will wow whatever guests they decide to have over. 

When it comes to outdoor patio designs, my personal style tends to be more classic and simplistic.  I don't like a lot of extras that distract with the simple elegance of fantastic architecture.  As you can tell from our patio pictures, we went with a minimalistic design that really focused on the materials we used and the classic grecian vibe we were going for in the overall architecture of our home.  Rather than bringing in a lot of extra distractions, the main design comes from the checkerboard pattern that we created by alternating different shades of large flagstone pavers.  Other than that, the patio design ideas were pretty basic -- a nice bronze railing, a gorgeous deep blue infinity pool, and some refined contemporary lounge chairs finished off the look.

This owner did an absolutely fantastic job of blending their outdoor patio designs with their drive way (or vice versa).  Given how close together these homes are, there obviously was not a ton of room for grass or other landscaping.  I respect that they recognized this and instead stuck with hardscaping for their front patio ideas. By extending the driveway/patio all the way around to the side of the house, they actually made the overall area feel much bigger than it actually is.  In addition to this, using the same gorgeous sandy colored patio pavers for the driveway, side patio and back deck, made the entire space feel cohesive and finished.

This family hit it out of the park with outdoor patio designs -- I mean look at the size and style of that yard!  Not only did they incorporate your more mainstream elements like resort style pool patio ideas and a nice covered porch area alongside the house, but they also have such fun details like a lounging cabana, waterfall leading to a small pool, even a putting green!  This is definitely the dream home for avid entertainers (or even golfers).  Beyond the awesome patio designs that they chose, I actually really like the landscaping itself.  They chose plants that mimicked the natural landscape of the desert surrounding the property.

Well I have finally gone and done it -- I found my dream outdoor patio designs to upgrade our backyard pool area that is currently just a mud pit after construction.  It has taken me ages to settle on what type of covered patio ideas I want to bring to this space because it will be such a huge part of our outdoor parties that we have almost every weekend during the summer. My wife and I love to entertain friends, family, neighbors, coworkers, you name it, so it was really important for us to have a functional and impressive place to do this.  In my opinion, the best outdoor patio designs have an area to use as a kitchen like this, as well as a dedicated dining space and a lounge area.
