Bathroom Renovation Cost

I have been so intimidated by the thought of a lofty bathroom renovation cost that I haven't even spent time doing my research to try to come up with a plan for our new master bath.  I would love it if somebody could answer how much does a bathroom renovation cost if you hire professionals to do the work versus if you attempted to DIY it yourself.  We are pretty handy people and can learn how to do just about any home improvement project. The question is, is the time and effort we would put into it to create a look like this really outweigh the cost to hire a plumber, tile guy, and electrician.  I would love some advice from other homeowners who have found ways to cut down on the bathroom remodel cost without sacrificing quality. 

I would love to know this bathroom renovation cost because I would like to replicate it in our own master bath.  For a few months now I have been searching through photos of bathroom makeovers to find the perfect design to use as a starting point for our own remodel.  I am pretty good at hunting down products, deals, and even matching paint shades to photos, but when it comes to actually putting together the look organically I do struggle.  Everybody thinks that our house is beautiful, but they probably don't realize that basically every design is copied from some photo or another that I have found online. So if anybody on here knows who did this bathroom remodel or has done one similar, I would love to hear your insight. 

It is always my goal to keep bathroom renovation cost lower than the budget that my client has set forth -- one, because it is a fun challenge and, two because it leaves wiggle room to add unique luxury features at the end of the job.  For example, we budgeted about $2000 for the shower remodel cost including labor and material but, because we found a deal on the tile, we were able to convert the previous walk in shower into a shower plus tub combo.  These are one of the hottest trends for 2020 and I think will remain popular for years due to their extreme functionality. Whether you are hiring somebody to complete your bathroom renovations or doing them yourself, I definitely recommend keeping this mentality so that you will end up with an even more incredible design in the end. 

In an effort to modernize our master and keep bathroom renovation cost low, my husband and I decided to go out on a limb and tackle this remodel project ourselves. Admittedly, taking on something like this shower remodel was way easier said than done, but we tried to pick a design and materials that would be easy for us to work with. Large square tiles seemed like the obvious choice for the walk in shower because it would be quick to install and much easier than an intricately detailed design.  We also went with a pretty simple wood grain tile for the floors and pre-fabricated vanities that just had to be popped in where the old ones once stood.

Because a total bathroom renovation cost is just too steep for our budget right now, we are looking into ways that we can upgrade the space cosmetically but without investing in major redos like tile, vanities etc.  When we looked at a bathroom remodel cost breakdown that a local contractor gave us, we realized that those items were by far the most expensive to completely gut and redo.  Swapping out faucets, repainting walls, and even adding in a new glass shower door for the shower all seemed like relatively inexpensive projects that we could handle ourselves without hiring a professional.  All in all we absolutely love how the room turned out with just a few upgrades and the only thing that we would change in the future would be to go ahead and tackle a bathroom shower remodel just to make the room feel even more updated. 

We know that this bathroom renovation cost is going to be quite high given the size and magnitude of the job (I mean look at all that tile), but I think that the whole place just has to be gutted.  As I look at bathroom remodel pictures I realize just how outdated our current master looks, and how much needs to be done to take it into this decade.  Ripping out the jacuzzi tub and replacing it with an awesome clawfoot design in front of those large windows is at the top of my list of projects.  Our bathroom remodel 2019 is also going to include removing all of the tile and redoing the floors and walk in shower, as well as converting that shower to a steam room.
