While a new remodel with custom kitchen cabinets can be quite costly, the return on investment makes it worth it. On average, a new kitchen returns almost ninety cents to the dollar; the highest of all home improvement projects. If done correctly, many have known to make a profit. The best way to create a profitable kitchen cabinet design is to focus expenses on key design elements with the most bearing on the layout and not your bank. Backsplash tile and new paint colors are first on our list of recommendations. Some of the more popular custom kitchens use paint colors that are not costly and can be easily painted by the most novice DIY homeowner.
The best kitchen remodeling ideas include several important elements including stunning custom kitchen cabinets, ample countertop space, beautiful backsplash tile and large appliances that work. It’s important with any design layout to incorporate these areas in an organized and appealing manner. Keep both the design layout and flow of the kitchen simple while adding your favorite decorating style with new kitchen cabinets. With the right size room, a center kitchen island can make all the difference giving you extra countertop and cabinet storage. If you’re building a completely new remodel, create your kitchen floor plan and cabinet design and then browse the photos looking for your optimal layout.
I knew when I walked into this home to meet with the client for the first time that I would need to order custom kitchen cabinets for the space. The natural light from all of the windows is just stunning and really lights up the space, but it really limited where we could fit units and what we could find in standard sizes. Luckily the homeowners wanted a modern kitchen design, so it made the order a little bit cheaper than it could have been if we had been looking for a very ornate style unit. I know that cost usually doesn't matter in a home of this stature but I always like to be as conservative as possible to always come under budget.
Regardless of their oftentimes steep cost, I really think that custom kitchen cabinets are generally the way to go when you are designing any type of high end home, no matter the location. From my experience, even the best kitchen cabinets that you can find at those "big box" stores like Lowes and Home Depot are of far inferior quality than something that you can get from a custom woodworker. We gutted this kitchen and swapped out old 1990s pine units with these gorgeous polished espresso mid-century modern custom cabinets. Even without the new paint and tile, the difference is certainly transformative. You probably can't tell from the photos, but every single unit in the kitchen cabinet layout is so well made and, quite frankly, a piece of art to look at when you open the doors.
Custom kitchen cabinets are definitely the style maker of any high end home design because they set the tone for the level of luxury and overall decor theme that you will see throughout the rest of the living spaces. It is especially important to select quality and luxurious materials in this room, because a kitchen design is often the centerpiece of the home when it comes to resale. As such, finding the right designer or at least a good set of trustworthy vendors is a key step to a successful design. You could certainly create a beautiful space like this with classic white kitchen cabinets on your own without hiring a professional, just make sure you do your research and talk to any associates at the stores where you are purchasing your material from.
I am wondering what people on here think about refinishing these custom kitchen cabinets instead of tearing them out. I know that they look old and kind of grimy, but the fact that they were custom designed for our floor plan and have a lot of awesome interior storage features, make me hesitant to simply gut the place and start fresh. The main thing that I really want to overhaul in here is the kitchen island designs because I feel that the unit has a lot of potential, but that it is not really living up to it right now. I'll fill you in on my grand plan for the space. I am thinking to paint all of the cabinetry white (to save money and preserve the custom units) then refinish the island with a darker wood stain and put a marble counter on top.
