The number one thing I wanted in our country house was a cozy front porch that we could spend time with friends and family on summer evenings. Even better would be a screened in porch that would shield us from bugs and the occasional summer shower. I saw this picture online and loved the way they played out their front porch, especially the quaint hanging swing and lovely coordinating area rug. Their porch decor is absolutely impeccable, both classic and a little bit funky at the same time. The mixture of neutral tones provides a subtle contrast against their lush green yard but does not distract from the beauty of their garden.
Our front porch is my favorite spot in the home because it is such a relaxing highway from the more chaotic main living areas inside. I specially selected the comfortable front porch chairs for my husband and I so that we can escape out here after dinner for a little bit of time just for the two of us. I think that they are not only very functional and comfortable, but they are quite beautiful as well featuring the crisp white wood and emerald green cushions that coordinate with our shutters. I love front porch designs that feature a lot of potted plants and greenery, so I think that that will be the next phase in our outdoor decor project. I am excited to update you with pictures.
Our front porch is my absolute favorite place to sit and watch the day pass by, so I wanted to make it into a beautiful space that I feel like I am sitting in the lap of luxury whenever I spend time out there. I wanted to use a garden party theme with my front porch decor, more specifically in a soft rose and beige color palette. I found these cushions at a local home boutique and they ended up become the foundation to my design. Rather than buying all new furniture, I opted to spray paint my old pieces to save a buck or two. They actually look brand new so I am glad I didn't spend that money. One of my favorite back porch ideas that we used was adding gorgeous potted flowers along all of our steps, so I wanted to use that in the front as well.
Our front porch is my absolute favorite spot in the home because it is the place that my husband, dogs, and I unwind in at the end of the day. Some of my favorite memories are in those evening relaxing out there while the sun sets, so I wanted to make sure that the porch design was super special and definitely functional for our needs. First of all it needed to be wide enough. When we were touring homes to purchase, there were so many that had a beautiful front porch, but it was simply too narrow to really set some chairs and a small table on (which was super necessary for our family). Second, I really wanted to imitate all of those grand southern front porch pictures that had paneled ceilings and really elegant gas lantern light fixtures to give the space a nice ambiance.

The front porch has always been my absolute favorite area of our home. I find it so quaint and a lovely place to relax first thing in the morning with a cup of coffee, or after a long day at work. Since we use this space so frequently, I decided it might be time to update it with a few new front porch ideas. I was pretty picky with the style and type of designs I wanted to incorporate. Southern Living Magazine was a huge source of inspiration for gorgeous porch designs. Large slabs were utilized for the floor of the stone front porch, while smaller river rocks comprised the wall and stair risers. We completed the look a coordinating garden patio and pathway made of larger square versions of the stones. My favorites were always large wrap around styles or a simple yet whimsical stone porch.
