Sometimes simple front yard landscaping ideas are the best options to beautify your exterior and increase the curb appeal of your home. Oftentimes, there is no need for elaborate designs and dozens of expensive plant varieties. A lush well-tended lawn and some colorful potted plants or small hedges are all you need to create a beautiful landscape to accent your home. This is especially true if you already have lovely architecture. Look at the front of house landscaping on this home. All they have is bright green lawn with a border of manicured hedges.

The design is subtle yet classic, and the perfect accent to their gorgeous period architecture. The exterior decor elements on the home are quite ornate. Between the stone blocks, faux balcony and intricate doorway, there is a lot going on from the street level. For this reason, it was important to keep the front yard landscaping ideas quite simple, so as not to overwhelm the space and cheapen the overall look. The minimalistic approach to landscaping that they chose was the perfect balance for the rest of the home.

Some homeowners prefer front yard landscape design that is simple, while others (like us) prefer a more in your face kind of look. As you can tell, we are partial to big colorful trees and lots of lush shrubbery. I wanted to shield our home and front windows with greenery, not only to upgrade our landscaping ideas, but also to give us some privacy. We live on a fairly busy street,so one of our biggest goals with this project was trying to eliminate some of the glare of headlights that was coming in our front windows. Rather than adding a tall fence on the perimeter of our home (which the homeowners association would not allow), we decided to use front yard landscaping ideas to create a barrior between us and the road. Our plan worked surprisingly well. In the spring and summer especially, the lush greenery and thick leaves hide our windows significantly. For those of you facing a similar challange with achieving privacy when your options are restricted, I would highly recommend looking for a more natural solution via plants and trees.

Not only do the front yard designs you choose for your home enhance the look of the architecture, but they are also the driving force behind its overall curb appeal. For this reason it is important to utilize front yard landscaping ideas that blend well with the exterior of your home as well as make it stand out from your neighbors. A lush green lawn and well placed greenery or landscaping rocks can have a huge impact on how updated the house looks. If the home is a bit dated and run down, an unkept yard will only make it look worse. Whereas beautiful landscaping can go a long ways in distracting guests and potential buyers from an exterior style that may not necessarily be up to par with surrounding homes. For example, when we took on this front yard makeover, the stucco house and overgrown lot was certainly the most disheveled on the street. Simply adding some new sod as the design foundation, then adding in beautiful boxwood hedges and taller evergreen bushes to accent the lovely height of the home, went a long ways in updating the overall appearance of the property.

Our clients often ask us if landscaping ideas for front of house are any different than what you should use in the back yard. The answer is yes and no. Overall, design concepts and types of plants you should use remain the same whether you are in the front yard or the back. You still want to pay attention to climate and weather patterns to ensure that the greenery you choose for front yard landscaping ideas lasts through the seasons and flourishes. Similarly, you want to pay attention to your architectural style as well as siding type and color when you are picking items so that everything blends well. Where planning your landscape design differs is in the placement of your greenery elements. In the front you want to make sure that you create an opening and welcoming space that frames your home. It is important to keep an eye on scale as well. Small front yard landscaping ideas, for example, will differ from those of a grand estate. You will need more greenery and larger trees to look appropriate against the exterior of a larger home.

Todays most popular front garden ideas are a great way to add some pizazz and curb appeal to your home. Just look at this house that we recently worked with the homeowner to revamp their outdated landscape design. Their primary goal was to add some color to the otherwise harsh grey exterior of the house. Our first step to achieving this was mapping out where we could add greenery and where we should plant some colorful shrubs and flowers. We decided to line the foundation of the house with bright green leafy bushes. Then, to add a bit of height and color contrast, we planted taller sculpted evergreen trees flanking the doorway. This helped to draw the eye upwards and accentuate the lovely wood door and balcony. Finally, to add the color they requested, we utilized front yard landscaping ideas that would bring different shades in without being to bright. It is important to consider the architecture of the home when you are making your selections because some items just dont blend well. For example, bright wildflowers would look out of place alongside the rather bold design of their exterior.

Front yard landscaping ideas can bring so much beauty to a home. We just finished our curbside update and could not be more pleased at how it turned out. Quite frankly, I am astonished at how large of a difference a few front yard landscaping elements like trees and shrubberies can make to the overall appearance of a house. I have always thought that our homes architecture was very charming. The bright red door, classic white columns and lovely river stone siding blend very well together. Despite this, our lawn area was severely lacking in style. For this reason, I turned to the internet in search of landscape design ideas that could upgrade our curb appeal without spending a ton of money to do so. Sites like this were a fantastic resource to give me some inspiration for what I was even looking for. Through my research I decided to add a number of tall evergreen trees to draw the eye upwards, making our home seem a bit taller. We also planted gorgous flowering hedges along the foundation of the house and front walkway.
