Who knew that cabinet paint colors could truly change the entire feel of a space -- well not me for one! Believe it or not, all of our cabinetry used to be a deep espresso color that made this room feel super closed in despite its relatively large size. Rather than ripping out all of our kitchen cabinets (which were in relatively good condition) we decided to hire somebody to just refinish them. My neighbor actually did it in their very similar looking kitchen and it looks so fantastic that I wanted to give it a whirl as well to see how it would turn out in here. Boy am I glad we did! Just switching the kitchen cabinet paint colors to white and charcoal grey made such a HUGE difference. It is as though we have a completely different kitchen now.
I absolutely adore the cabinet paint colors that this homeowner used to brighten up their (already beautiful) kitchen. Right now, my husband and I are planning on painting kitchen cabinets in the home we are about to buy, so I have been researching to figure out the exact color and finish that we want to go with. White seems so boring to me, but I still want everything to feel bright and fresh (must like they achieved here). I really soft grey like this would be a great compromise to keep things light but also have some color going on. A lot of people have told me that this is one of the most popular kitchen cabinet colors 2022, which just reenforces my decision on a shade like this. If anybody has done a soft grey in their kitchen, which brand and exact color did you use? There are so many options to weed through!
Cabinet paint colors are definitely one of those choices that can completely change how your room will look (for the good or the bad). Even super old and cheap kitchen cabinets like ours can be turned into something that looks really unique and high end if you choose the right color paint and hardware. I know that this dusty teal color is probably considered a pretty bold choice, but we really wanted to go with a retro theme and I figured we had nothing to lose since the cabinets were so old anyways. I was inspired by one of the kitchen cabinets pictures on here, and decided to just take a leap and go for it. We actually based the paint color on the tile that we chose for the backsplash design, that way everything would coordinate perfectly in the end.
For some reason cabinet paint colors were one of those decisions that really tripped me up when we were planning out our kitchen renovation. This is probably quite funny to you all since we ended up going with an all white traditional style kitchen cabinet design, but boy did it take me awhile to come to this decision! We knew that we would definitely be doing traditional style units, but there were so many color and stain options that I quickly got overwhelmed (not surprisingly). You can go so many different directions with kitchen paint colors and they can each have a profound difference on how everything looks overall. That is why I ultimately chose to go with white, because I figured that no matter what decor we went with over the years, it would always coordinate well.
I am so amazed by how much simply changing the island to blue totally revived our plain white cabinet paint colors. Before I felt that our kitchen was a little bit lackluster and average. I have really been drawn to those trendy deep blue kitchen cabinets that I have been seeing online and in magazines lately, but painting everything in here that bold of a shade seemed like way too big of a commitment for me. With the size of our kitchen, that much blue would totally overwhelm it very quickly and could be a mistake in the long run. So rather than changing all of the kitchen cabinet colors, I just hand painted the island one weekend and boy what a difference it made! I am still so happy that we did not do everything in that color, but it still adds a cheerful burst of color to the space.
When we first moved into this home, I honestly thought that the cabinet paint colors were hideous. Green is so not my color for basically anything (especially this light mossy shade), so the thought of green kitchen cabinets in my favorite room to spend time in just horrified me (yes I am dramatic ;). Well I am happy to report that, after just a few months of living here, this color has actually grown on me! Sure, I would have never picked that color myself, BUT it actually really goes with the overall vibe of the house and does not clash with any of our decor because we keep everything pretty neutral. Now I look at it as a sunny pop of color in an otherwise white and grey home. My advice to anybody searching around for color inspiration is not to shy away from the bolder looking kitchen cabinet ideas 2022, you may be surprised by what actually looks good in your home.
