When I found these home decor pictures of a fantastic vintage-inspired kitchen, I knew that I had stumbled upon the inspiration for our new home design. In my opinion the kitchen is the heart of the house, and all home design ideas you use (except maybe the bedrooms) stem from what is found in this particular room. I have always wanted our home to have an elegant feel but with funky vintage touches. I love how this designer blended the two styles together through unique kitchen decor. The green and yellow glass subway tiles bring in that vintage 1970s vibe, but the gorgeous stainless hood, richly paneled cabinetry and classic hanging pot rack ground the entire design in traditional elegant. It is absolutely perfect and I want to recreate every little detail in our house.
I am so inspired by the home decor pictures of this particular model home. I absolutely love home design that is quite minimalistic but features a traditional foundation like the gorgeous marble fireplace with herringbone detail or the wide plank flooring and classic built ins. These are all elements that stand the test of time and will not look dated over the years. It is important to me that the items I spend my money on will last for years and years and retain their resale value. If I want to bring in more trendier items or play around with a bolder color palette, I will do that through cheap home decor that can be easily (and inexpensively) swapped out if I change my mind after a few months.
I have always found that home decor pictures are a fantastic place to start if you are feeling uninspired by a space. Even though I am not a professional designer, my friends and family always come to me for decoration ideas for various rooms of their house. Of course I find the attention flattering, but I also want to teach others how to achieve awesome looks that they are proud of on their own. Whenever I start a design (like our new master bedroom pictured here), I begin by browsing my favorite magazines and websites for photos that inspire me. I may be drawn to a picture because of a cool piece of bedroom wall decor or perhaps a paint color that I absolutely love. It doesn't matter, but collect these photos in a file and pretty soon you will see a design start to tack shape.
Lately, you will always find me browsing and hoarding home decor pictures as I try to plan out our new house. We are building from the ground up so I need home decor ideas of all kinds, from awesome cozy living room inspiration like this gorgeous mountain house, to ways to decorate our new kitchen. I really love this site because designers are always posting portfolios of their work, and I really would like our home to look like it was professionally decorated (but I do not want to pay that price lol). For now, I will take my inspiration and direction from any home interior pictures I can find on here and hope that my builders (and husband) can translate what I find into reality.
In my spare time I love looking at home decor pictures because it helps me visualize and manifest my dream home. Pictures of decorated living rooms are some of my favorites to browse through because I consider this space the heart of the home, both for friends and family as well as the epicenter of your overall decor. I think that the style of your living room oftentimes sets the tone for the rest of your main living area because they are usually attached to both the kitchen and the dining room. For this reason, it is important to get the house decorating ideas you use in this space right so that the look and tone of the rest of your rooms flows effortlessly from it. I love a beige and red color palette as you can see from the pictures of our home.
When my clients ask me how they can come up with their own interior designs without having to hire a professional like me, I always tell them to look at tons and tons of home decor pictures to both get inspired as well as narrow down features that they like and dislike. Living room decor is a pretty easy place to start if you are a first time decorator. There are no hugely expensive items in there and it is a good area to have fun with color and pattern. Step one is always finding a great neutral couch that will go with what style and color palette you choose over the years. I love this beige faux sectional that we used in this living room because it fills the room nicely and is an awesome neutral backdrop to the textile and wall decor ideas we used. Then layer on area rugs, throw pillows, artwork, and funky trinkets to finish out the space with your personal style.
