Creating fantastic house interior design doesn't need professional help -- you can actually do it yourself with careful planning and research. Although it can be challenging to design your own house because of all of the architectural and decorative decision, I find it to be such a rewarding project because you know that the finished product is all your own and such a huge reflection of your personality. This modern meets country rustic living room that I created off of our open kitchen is one of my favorite rooms in the house because it combines my love of contemporary style with my childhood roots growing up on a farm in Indiana.
Embarking on a house interior design project is a very personal journey because you are essentially gathering all of your favorite colors, decor and trinkets and putting them in one space to reveal to friends and family your personality and taste. There is no space where this is more true than with bedroom interior design. These spaces are the areas in the house where we choose to relax and unwind after a long day, not to mention they greet you first thing in the morning. For this reason, it is so important to make sure they are in a style that makes you happy. I personally love crisp all-white designs like this one. The only colors I like featured in bedroom decor ideas are the vibrant blues and greens that are found in nature like they have chosen to accent with here.
My close friends are always asking me how I get started on a house interior design project because they feel like it must be such an overwhelming process. Honestly though, once you have done it a few times, discovering and conceptualizing home decor ideas becomes a very routine and attainable task. This living space is actually one of my favorite designs I have in my portfolio because I love how finding a single inspiration piece (the large aqua canvas hung above the fireplace) really influenced the rest of the look. We based the living room interior design on the contrasting mix of beige and rich blue shades found in the artwork, and accented it with touches of espresso wood and bronze metal to tie in their contemporary style architecture.
House interior design has truly never been my strong suit so, when I had to take on building our new home, I was really quite intimidated and did not know how to get started. The kitchen interior design was the project that scared me the most but, because of how expensive an interior designer was quoted, I decided to take on the project myself. Sites like this were actually extremely helpful to me as I planned out the project because all of the photos gave me so many design ideas that I would have never thought of on my own. The photos of this home were actually the inspiration behind the design we are adding to our house because I think that it featured the best kitchen cabinets to blend with the French country motif I used throughout the rest of the rooms.
House interior design is one of my passions because I find it so fun to take an empty or outdated space and really bring it to life. This home interior design project was actually one of my favorite jobs because I just love the mixture of old world Tudor architectural detailing alongside more contemporary furnishings. I think the combination of styles creates such a unique and ageless motif that can easily stand the test of time. The single element that actually inspired all of the house decorating ideas that I used here, was the beautiful bronze chandelier that I picked up in an Estate sale in Spain.
Taking on an entire house interior design project can be quite overwhelming, so it is important that you have your decor inspiration lined up and an overall plan for the entire home all set before you embark on a single room. I actually find that it is easier to make plans like this for a modern house design than for traditional looks, because contemporary styles are often very clean and monochromatic like this kitchen and living area. For spaces like this, I generally pick 2 or 3 similar shades as used those throughout all of the rooms in wall paint, furniture colors, and flooring. Then if I want to bring color into living room decor ideas, for example, I do that through artwork or textiles that can be easily swapped out or returned if they do not create the right look.
