Bedroom Ideas
Porcelain tile comes in some of the most beautiful finishes that really adds so much dimension to a space. I never really payed much attention to "trendy" bathroom tile ideas 2022 because I was not faced with actually choosing a tile until a couple of weeks ago when we moved into our new house. The first thing that we wanted to do in there was renovate the 3 main bathrooms (not the powder room) because they are just so outdated.

We want to do something fairly basic since we are doing all three at once, but still want everything to look nice and high end for years to come. I felt like porcelain could be the best option because it is available in so many styles and finishes, and it would be fairly inexpensive even if we did everything up to bathroom wall tiles. This large master is sort of my inspiration design, but I welcome to other ideas as well!

Some people think that porcelain tile is outdated, but I actually love how it can modernize a room. Believe it or not, despite the grand size of our master, we actually had linoleum on the floors. Obviously that had to go immediately after we moved in, so that we could replace it with proper bathroom floor tiles but I was not really feeling the marble that I saw in all of the magazines and stores. First of all, the rest of our home has very warm-toned paint and matching decor, so moving towards a primarily cool-toned color palette in the master bath seems like it would look out of place and not look cohesive anymore. Not to mention, when I walked into the tile shop, I immediately fell in love with this creamy porcelain bathroom tile with the delightful little black accents. I basically knew in that moment what I was going to choose.

I don't think that people realize the versatility of porcelain tile, because most are so wrapped up in all of those glamorous marble designs that you see in all of the home decor magazines and all over Instagram. It is funny because a lot of the cheaper marble that you see is actually an overlay on porcelain tile. That, in particular, is actually a wonderful product if you are looking for shower tile ideas because real marble is quite slippery and can be pretty dangerous in an application like that. We didn't want to do a grayish color palette so we moved away from marble and instead did this beautiful beige stone look. Out of all of the bathroom floor tile ideas that I saw on here, something about the creaminess and the texture of this material really spoke to me. I think it ended up being a fantastic choice because the bathroom looks divine.

I am wondering what anybody on here thinks about ripping out all of this outdated ceramic, and replacing it with a nice faux marble porcelain tile. The bones of this room are absolutely fantastic (I mean look at all of the windows and the skylight in the shower), but the finishes really date the place. Unfortunately I think that it is a total gut job and we will have to replace everything from the bathroom tiles design to the vanity and shower door. I really don't mind spending the money as long as I end up with a space that I enjoy and that will stay in style for many years. I know that marble designs are a very prominent fixture in shower tile ideas 2022, but I am wondering about their longevity. To me, marble feels like a very timeless look but what do y'all think?

At first I was a little bit hesitant about getting porcelain tile because I know it is one of the most inexpensive types on the market. Once I started looking more into different bathroom tile ideas done in that specific material, I realized the versatility and high end designs that you could create with porcelain, so the lower price just became a bonus. I am going to use this photo as my starting point for designing our master. I really like the color palette that they used because it feels very updated and modern, but still has a slightly rustic look that I really like. The bathroom tiles especially stood out to me because I love the depth of color and the intricate pattern. The tile in itself could be the main focal point of the bathroom and I could keep the rest of the decor pretty limited (unlike what they did).

I really would not mind our master bath if it were not for all of the porcelain tile that covers pretty much every surface. Sure there are some other outdated things like the glass block wall partitioning the shower and tub from the rest of the room as well as some of the hardware and fixtures, but those can be relatively easily changed. Getting rid of all the tile will prove to be far more difficult (and expensive) because it would mean replacing the bathroom flooring as well as the shower and tub surround. That is not to say that we cannot do that, I would just like to try to come up with some alternative options first before we just dump all of that money into a remodel. So, with that being said, does anybody have thoughts on bathroom shower tile ideas or inspiration that we could do to enhance and modernize the porcelain tile without ripping it all out.
