The only thing that I am not in love with is the large column style lamp to the right of the first photo. It is a little bit too large for the space in my opinion (but cool looking nonetheless). I am getting ready to embark on a living room decor 2022 update, and I think that I will use these photos for reference. I will certainly post some photos with how turned out.

I just love this simple California-chic home decor because it is not overdone and does not try to hard. I hate spaces that do not feel "lived-in" or that make you think you need to tip toe around and not touch anything. I want to be able to enjoy what ever living room decor ideas I choose without working what my kids will do to them or if a pillow gets unfluffed on the couch. Plus, something about natural textures like the warm grain of wood, seagrass rug, and beautiful vibrant green plants are very soothing to me. These are elements that you rarely can find in your average cheap home decor at the store, but rather something that you really need to curate on your own. I look forward to hunting for pieces that would make a look like this come alive in our home.

When it comes to our home decor I don't necessarily hate it or anything close to that, I just feel like it looks unfinished and half done. My goal for 2022 is to really take our house decoration game to the next level and curate each room so that it looks high end and "complete." Of course my DIY self is not going to hire a designer, so I have begun researching to see exactly what pieces I need and how to source them. I am thinking that my first project is going to be our living room decor because it is the room where we spend most of our time. We got most of the furniture from Restoration Hardware and, while I do love it, I feel like it does not really look cohesive. I think I need some sort of element to tie together the whole space. Thoughts on what that should be?

I love researching home decor because it feels like a window into people's personality. What you choose to surround yourself with in the place that you spend the majority of your time really tells you about a person and is a peak into the way you think. I want to post a few photos of our kitchen decor to see what people on here think that it says about me and my family. As you can see we have a love for traditional design, but with some modern unique architectural touches as well. Our home has a lot of personality on our own, so I kept decor pretty minimal. We also love rustic home decor because it reminds me of my childhood growing up on a ranch in Montana. I like to bring a piece of home to California with me.

Libraries and offices are one of those home decor projects that people forget about until they see awesome designs like this -- at least I know I do. I guess I never really thought to look into home office decor until I actually moved into a home that would require it. While I certainly don't have anything as grand as this gorgeous Beauty and the Beast style library, I do have a fairly sizable area that I think we can do a lot with. I would like to mimic this style as much as I can, but without the second story element (unfortunately). I would do dark panelling everywhere with at least one wall devoted to bookcases. I am still debating the rest of the room decor ideas, but I am leaning towards a classic equestrian theme I believe.

I think that it is the unique elements of your home decor, no matter how large or small, that can really make a house a home (and a fun place to live). I am absolutely in love with this awesome staircase design that has a hidden door leading into a fun little closet. I bet that you could do this with a powder room or even create a safe to store valuables or a panic room behind the shelves (of course neither of those are as fun). Regardless, the lesson to take away is to get creative with your house decorating ideas and always think outside of the box to figure out unique twists that really make the design your own. This is definitely an idea that I will file away in case I can ever use it.
