Home office decor goes such a long way to creating a serene and productive environment -- something anybody who works from home strives for. Whenever I am beginning an office design for a client, I generally like to get a sense of what makes them tick so to speak. By this I mean that I like to find out what motivates them, what artwork or color palettes inspire them, do they like a clean minimalist look to stay productive or do they prefer busyness in their space. For example, the client that we designed this modern home office for absolutely loves the color blue because it reminds her of the serenity of the ocean. She also likes to surround herself by her favorite things and small mementos that remind her of her accomplishments because that is what she finds most motivating on the day to day.
Home office design is such a personal project for so many of my clients because it is an area that they will spent many important hours in trying to be productive (especially for those that work from home). For this reason, I try to work very closely with homeowners to come up with a plan that reflects their personality, their habits, and what keeps them motivated. For this client, they wanted to incorporate office design ideas that maximized storage capabilities but that had an old world vibe. Based on these specifications, I knew that we would need to focus on adding built-ins to serve duel purposes as storage as well as decor.
I am absolutely in love with our new home office furniture that our interior decorator picked out to enhance my husband's library. Previously, he had been using the same desk and beat up armchairs that he has had since he was in law school (twenty or more years ago). We thought it was high time to replace those old and worn out pieces with something new and befitting of the new stage in his career. Our decorator understood our vision perfectly and transformed the office interior design with this gorgeous area rug, buttery leather sofa, and stately executive desk. I think it adds such an elegant look to this space and perfectly accents the dark wood trim and shelving units that we added a few years ago.
I am a firm believer that home office decor makes a world of difference on your productivity and overall happiness throughout the day. Nothing motivates me more than a clean and tidy space with cute office decor that makes me smile every time I see it. Things like this make me want to go to work each day, rather than dreading it or procrastinating. This is the case whether you are looking for small office ideas or have a large space to furnish. As you can see from these photos, I went with a monochromatic contemporary look for my office space. I wanted to keep everything fairly neutral so that most of the focus would be on the beautiful wood trim throughout.
When I made partner at the firm I was given quite a large office and told that I can bring whatever decor in that I wanted. I have always loved interior design and dabbled in quite a few projects in my home, but am now embarking on creating a plan for what office ideas I want to bring into this new space. Traditional designs with rich dark wood panelling, elegant light fixtures and understated decor like this home office decor have always stood out to me as the most beautiful. I love how classic and timeless this style is and feel that it would be a great starting point for my new space at work. I have permission to change up the paint and floor coverings as well as bring in any office wall decor and furniture that I want.
Who’d know I manage a profitable business in this earth-toned sanctuary? Visualize your desires and write your home office ideas on paper. The list was anchored to capturing a phenomenal view of our beloved wooded acreage while I “toiled”. The window wall accomplishes the task, offering generous natural light – the smartly placed recessed lighting assists well when needed. A handsome potted palm reminds all there’s yet room to relax. Our motto of streamlined coordinated effort infused our office decor ideas while informing our furniture choices - an expansive mahogany desk, stately desk, and credenza.
