Unsurprisingly, one of the most frequently asked question our painters get is what type of wall paint colors we think are best to use in the home. Of course this is going to vary based on the size of the house, the architectural style, clients decor preferences, but in general we tend to gravitate towards Behr paint in neutral tones because it is durable, affordable, and available in any of today's popular shades you could dream of.

This room is painted in a few different shades that we pulled from their paint colors 2022 catalogue. More specifically, we used Behr Close Knit for the trim, ceiling and fireplace, then used Behr White Metal (the grey shade) on the walls. I think that it perfectly accents the granite tile on the fireplace surround as well as their hardwood floors and gives a clean and bright look to the room.

One of my favorite trends for this year is unexpected and mismatched kitchen cabinet colors. As you can see from this eclectic space, we are no longer tied down to those simple kitchen designs featuring all white or all brown cabinetry. It is now encouraged to play with different shades and finishes to create an eclectic and casual look. If you are going to use this trend at your house, be sure to keep the rest of your kitchen paint colors quite neutral (like this creamy white shade) in order to let the cabinets be the star and not overwhelm the eye. The top kitchen cabinet paint colors 2022 feature mossy greens like this, cool-toned grey, and deep indigo shades -- all hues that would look great individual or even mixed together. Most importantly get creative and think outside of the box with your design.

I have been loving the focus on pastels in the most popular paint colors 2022. Last year we saw a lot of bold exterior paint colors become trendy like deep navy, hunter green, and charcoal grey. While I do love the depth that those shades bring to a home's exterior (especially when paired with bright white trim), there is something about the more subtle tones that I have been seeing lately that is much more calming and homey to me. This particular house stood out to me because the soft sage green gave it a slightly contemporary twist while still maintaining the quaint cottage feel that the architectural style suggests. I have seen very similar shades in the latest Sherwin Williams paint catalog and it is making me consider revamping our current wood siding.

While I was researching new living room paint colors for our main gathering area downstairs, I read a lot of articles about which tones would be right for your space depending on the size, style and types of architectural features you have. Most of what I researched told me that, because I have a bunch of large floor to ceiling windows (like this room), that I can be a little bit more bold with color. The natural light offsets deeper hues and actually makes them seem even more vibrant. I had been gravitating towards interior paint ideas that incorporate deep earthy tones like this moss green and a rich Burgundy, so I went to my local Benjamin Moore to pick out a shade. Their top paint colors 2022 actually included a lot of the types of hues that I had seen online and liked, so we ended up going with a deep green shade very similar to our inspiration room.

I had been glancing through a catalog for the new Behr paint colors 2022 and came across this awesome bathroom design that I want to replicate in our home. I love how the subtle tan and beige palette provides a simple backdrop against the beautiful Italian mural feature on the shower wall. I had never thought to add a piece like this in the bathroom, but I think it makes the space look very high end and luxurious. In general, I prefer neutral bathroom paint colors like this but alway worry that they are too boring and do not bring much style to my home. But this cool ideas is a great way to give me the best of both worlds. Definitely take a look at their paint colors 2022 catalog if you are like me and want to create a balance between simple chic design and a bit of an artsy flare.

Bedroom paint colors can be a tough choice to make because you want them to be vibrant and reflect your personality, yet soft enough to promote relaxation at the end of a long day. Some designers will tell you to stick with neutral tones to create a simple foundation for nearly any design you could dream of, while others (like myself) encourage you to think outside of the box and play around with color. Neither opinion is wrong, it is just a matter of which wall colors suits your own personal style. When we decorated this room for one of our clients, they specifically requested that we incorporate a ton of bold blue shades because of their love for color. They find this hue particularly relaxing so it worked for them. If you would prefer something a bit less "loud" I would suggest checking out some of the popular grey or taupe paint colors 2022, because they still bring great style but in a more subtle way.
