I can tell you one thing about this space -- this room is no cheap bathroom remodel haha! I laugh because my whole purpose in coming on this site was to try to get inspired for ways that we can update our master suite while keeping the bathroom remodel cost as low as possible. Unfortunately I apparently have extremely high-end taste, because once I saw this photo I pretty much could not think about anything else. At first I thought that I would want some sort of rustic bathroom ideas to go with the slightly log cabin-esque theme of the rest of our house (with some contemporary style layered in as well).
I must say, I am pretty impressed with our cheap bathroom remodel that we planned and installed all on our own. When we say what it was going to cost to hire somebody to design and do all of the bathroom renovations we about passed out! It was not so much the actual cost, it was more the principle of the thing you know? With all of that money I could renovate this bathroom as well as our master (which we plan on doing next). So after we got that quite, I set out to figure out exactly what and how we could do stuff on our own. There were several bathroom remodel 2020 galleries and comment strings on here that really helped me to plan out the design and then figure out exactly how to make those ideas a reality.
Alright all of you professional or at-home designers, we need some ideas or advice for things that we can do for a cheap bathroom remodel in here that will have a big design impact but not completely overwhelm our wallet. We are no strangers to home renovation projects or even bathroom makeovers because my husband is quite handy with tools and figuring out how to make my design dreams become a reality. But, for some reason, we are stumped in here. My first thought was to paint the cabinets and the mirror, but I wasn't sure if that would make the place look too cheap. And also, do we replace the tile and the tub? My guess is probably yes.
I am so pleased at our little cheap bathroom remodel that we planned out with the help of our next door neighbor who is a contractor. When we first went to him with questions on what we should plan to anticipate for a shower remodel cost, he took us under his wing and basically helped us to figure out what we should expect to spend on the entire thing. Not only that but he let us use his supply house to get most of the materials which saved us even more money! I am just so proud of our little diy small bathroom remodel because, even though we had a ton of help from him, we still feel a sense of accomplishment for figuring most of it out on our own.
I know that most people would probably not consider this a cheap bathroom remodel, but for us it was so much more inexpensive than what we expected for a project of this size. We knew that we wanted to make some major renovations beyond simply swapping out bathroom decor. These included moving the shower to between the two sets of vanities in order to turn it into a focal point, as well as ripping out all of the existing tile and countertops. We learned from our last small bathroom remodel cost that vanities are actually a huge chunk of the budget, so we decided to keep our existing units and just paint them to freshen them up and help them to blend into the more contemporary vibe of our new design.
I want to make sure that everybody on here knows that a cheap bathroom remodel does not need to look inexpensive or low quality. In fact, I think that the mark of a good designer or contractor is that their best designs look high end regardless of the new bathroom cost. This attic guest bath that we built in as an addition to our mother-in-law suite is a perfect example of this concept. A lot of the things that make the space look high end (the ship lap walls, huge walk in shower, long vanities) where either installed by me or purchased through outlet stores so that we got it at a fraction of the price. So despite the fact that this bathroom remodel looks like it probably cost about $10,000 it was really under $5000.
