I am so excited to get started with our kitchen remodel on a budget because I can already envision in my head exactly how good it is going to look when we are finished! We purchased this home with a kitchen remodel in mind (and in budget) because we saw the potential in the home despite some of the outdated features. The home has fantastic light, flow, and square footage so all it needs is a little TLC, which we are very prepared and excited to provide. With that being said, we are definitely going to try to limit costs as much as possible because there are several areas in the home that I want to tackle. I always love scrolling through the progress of kitchen makeovers on here, so I am posting these photos to serve as our "before." Stay tuned for more as we get started!
Well I think that our kitchen remodel on a budget was a success if I do say so myself! My wife and I sat down to discuss exactly what we wanted to achieve in here as well as a realistic kitchen remodel cost that we thought that we could stick to, but that was not overly extravagant. The main kicker was the fact that we opted to keep our existing cabinetry (they were in good shape after all) and just replace countertops, backsplashes, paint, decor, fixtures etc. That eliminated a huge cost and allowed us to go a little more high end on those other elements. I think that many people give a cheap kitchen remodel a bad rap, and think that you will not be able to achieve a high end look with out spending a ton of money.
I am actually surprised at how well our just finished kitchen remodel on a budget came out! Usually when you have to skimp on money I feel like you skimp on quality as well, but this did not seem to be the case here. As you can tell from the kitchen remodel pictures that I posted, we kept our original cabinets but just painted them all white and swapped out the hardware. I was amazed at home much this truly changed the way the entire space (including the living room) looked and, even better, it only cost about $200. This is fantastic compared to the tens of thousands of dollars we were quoted to replace the units all together.
We are about to embark on our first kitchen remodel on a budget (well our first renovation project ever actually), so I really wanted to document the journey. As I hope you can tell, these are our before photos complete with 1980s tile floor, lovely veneer wood cabinets, and outdated appliances. It is a fairly small kitchen design, at least in terms of width, so we will have to get creative with how we want to proceed here. Unfortunately for our wallet, I think that we are going to have to completely gut the cabinets as well as the floor because I am not sure of an alternative way to refinish the super old units. Even though we are going to be adding the latest kitchen design ideas 2020, we am going to do my best to save money by doing most of the work ourselves.
I am going to follow the trend on here and post some before photos of our kitchen remodel on a budget! I personally love looking at before and afters, so I thought it would be fun to finally share some of our own. My husband and I have been saving our money and planning for the longest time, and we have finally made the move and purchased our own home! In buying a fixer upper, we knew when we got into this that we were going to have to set aside some money for renovations and I have been diligent about research kitchen remodel ideas over the past few months. Luckily we have a fairly huge space to work with, so trying to cram things into a challenging layout is certainly not an issue.
We are about halfway through our latest kitchen remodel on a budget and I wanted to share some progress photos. As you can see (I hope) we tore out our old cabinets and installed these custom order units on our own. Since it is a fairly small kitchen remodel, we thought we would try out one of those websites that you can enter your exact specs and they will send you the pieces for you to assemble yourself. I was surprised at how good the quality is and how perfectly they fit in the space. The only real thing left to do is add those finishing touches like backsplash, paint and decor. We really want to add some of the trendier kitchen remodel ideas 2020 that I have been seeing on this site, so we just need to narrow down exactly what direction we will go with that.
